My shots from Dave’s memorial drive 2012:
I’ve heard so many stories about Dave from mutual friends that I’ve wanted to join this drive for a few years now, but something always seemed to get in the way. Finally made it out this year.
Here’s to Dave:
Highlight for me was definitely sharing the cruise with my 2 year old, Lana. Took some figuring out how to get a car seat in a racing bucket. She seemed to like it.
For whatever reason I didn’t get a group shot… Here’s the cars:
Vert’s make kids happy!
Jesse gave Lana a tiny doll. She was stoked…. Good hanging with you fella. You’re clearly a big kid yourself.

On the drive back I started shooting pictures out the window… Started with full auto and got these.
Threw it on manual mode and started playing with settings a bit… Basically the longest shutter the light would allow (~1/50 sec). Kind of proud of these so I thought I’d share them in a bit higher res…
Fris was kind enough to shoot me too. Not a bad picture, particularly for a cell phone shot.
Nice meeting some new folks. Sandi, it’s clear you really loved your son.
-Joel Payne
P.S. Quality daddy/daughter time with friends and fast cars while the wife gets a little down time. What’s not to love about that? This picture’s getting framed…

Great pictures everyone! Unfortunately, I didnt take good pictures this year
Here's the only picture of the group I took...
and one of my wife's BMW and my FD after everyone went home...
We (wife, daughter, brother, doberman, myself) went up to the Belgian Waffle Works in Lake Arrowhead for brunch afterwards and had great weather on the way up.
The food was good but we couldnt say the same for the weather as it started sprinkling and got very foggy while we ate. This is what it looked like most of the way down (note my wife's BMW on the right hand side of the picture).
We had very little visibility and Grandma'd our way down the mountain. Good thing there was no snow or ice as it would have made for a white knuckle drive down with my FD wearing it's track tires. The turnout where Dave's accident happened was drenched so he gave us great weather while all of us met there earlier
It was good seeing everyone again and we have had a great time. We're looking forward to next year's run and can't wait to meet with everyone again in warmer weather.

Fris, one more big thanks for making it happen.
Johnson, been too long since we hung out fella. You owe me stories from King of the Hammers.
Juan, those weather shots from later in the day are crazy!
