2 Campbell Star Certified Smog Stations-Scared of RX-7
Hi Guys,
I'm in the Campbell Area and I went to 2 Star Certified Smog stations that have hundreds of 5 star review on Yelp and they wouldn't even test my 91 Rx-7.
It seems that these stations either are not comfortable with how to do it or as with 1 location the guy said they don't test older cars. This is ridiculous.
My regular smog guy in Sunnyvale let his Star Certification Lapse and is finally getting it renewed so I'll end up going to him in a few weeks.
Any Campbell/Sunnyvale/SJ/Cupertino Star Certified shops you guys are using that will do an RX-7 for future reference? My car passes consistently and has all the stock emission devices.
Thanks

the CA BAR often bring in older vehicle to smog stations. they will sometimes be so sneaky as unplug a hidden away emission device than let you run it. if you fail to check those item you get penalize for it.
they didnt feel like taking a risk on the car they didnt know.

I went to Quick Smog Check Center, 2420 Lafayette st. in Santa Clara. They had no problem with the stock setup.
I only picked it because it was convenient and empty.
It just takes time and effort to check all the pre-OBDII stuff so it may be a question of doing 1 old car vs 4 new cars.
It could be worse if they tested it and then failed you due to their incompetence.

Thanks guys for the replies. Anthony at EZ Smog in Sunnyvale got his Star Certification renewed and knows how to smog our cars. Got it done, my smog numbers are still really good on stock 124k motor.
Another recommendation from Mike at Mr. Mazda is Paul at Accurate Smog Check in Campbell on Curtner who is capable of smogging the 7.
