Arrow HOW-TO: Omit specific sub-forums from "New Posts" results

Currently, there is no user-accessible setting to omit specific sub-forums from results when using the "New Posts" link. However, you can get the "New Posts" function to exclude specific sub-forums if you manually add a simple argument to the end of the request URL in the form of "$exclude=<forum number>" (where <forum number> is the sub-forum number.) You can omit multiple sub-forums by tacking on additional numbers, separated by commas.

The sub-forum numbers are viewable at the end of the URL used to access each one, which you can either get from the address bar (if you're in that sub-forum) or by hovering over a link to that forum. The number will be the last one appearing in the URL.

To omit, for example, "DoO / Political Discourse" (sub-forum 204) - simply add "&exclude=204" to the end of the New Posts link:

https://www.rx7club.com/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=204 (link)

Perhaps you'd like to also avoid seeing "V-8 Powered RX-7's" (sub-forum 299) - you'd add 299 as well (separated by a comma):

https://www.rx7club.com/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=204,299 (link)

Once you set up an URL with all of the sub-forum numbers you want to omit, create a bookmark/favorite using that URL (NOT the URL that shows the results!) and use that link each visit rather than the "New Posts" link on the site toolbar.
