Would this work?
Ok, I found a non-running FC that would be the perfect candidate for a V8 swap. The problem is that I don't want to shell out all the cash for a LS1 because this is going to be a project car. I just want a quick V8 FC. A buddy (who specializes in V8s) told me that he knew the perfect V8 for me:

I was just wondering if I could make that work? Also, what would have to be done tranny wise? Could it bolt up to stock or maybe a T56? Don't worry about hood clearance.

A T56 from an LT1 will bolt up to that fine, but with the money spent for that, you could easily go LS1, or even do a 5.3L. Save cash, be Gen III and still make more power then that thing.

Where can I get a LS1 for that and are you talking engine only? All the ones I've found on ebay/etc are about 2x that. If I can get one for the right price I'd love to do that.

You linked a crate engine that costs 1750 dollars undressed, and 2300+ partially dressed, add a tranny to that and you're well over 3000 dollars, closer to 4000 if you want a T56. You can find one in the 4000 dollar range pretty easily if you look. Hell, I got two 4L60e transmissions, two LS1s (1 98 with EVERYTHING and 1 99 longblock+intake/accessories), a 5.3L with everything, and a 6.0L longblock for 3000 dollars. Shop around.
