Worlds first Twin Turbo LS FC RX-7 736whp on a BONE STOCK LS1

Big thanks to Erik@http://www.backstreetper.com/ for the super safe tune that I can beat on the car all day, every day, worry free! Car drives better than it did stock with a MAF

Video! From my buddies phone. There is some Go-Pro stuff he will try and get up soon. This was at around 12 psi. My excitement was from raising the boost with vacuum T's and having it hold steady till redline (yes, I forgot to bring a boost controler)

Car made 736/654 @ 202kpa (around 14.6 psi give or take)

Some-none that I have thought so I have to wait for people to post stuff

So this weekend was the DSM shootout. If you guys have never been, make the trip! The Fastest GTRs and Mitsubishi powered vehicles in the country come out every year for this.

Car show and dyno day Friday

Race Saturday/Sunday. Unfortunately since the car is not a Mitsu or GTR, my run time was super limited to TnT

Here is how the runs went-all runs at 17-18psi

First run-good launch-car is shutting down every shift. Feel like fuel slosh, but I have 5 gallons in the tank? 10.8@128. Also noted wide band was DEAD. Great, guess I am not turning it up. :-[

Put 4 more gallons in and take it out for a test hit- problem is GONE. Must have been shosh!! Man I need a sump!

Second run-roll out 1st and hammer down-car is all over the place but running well. Not thinking, I short shift into 5th AGAIN, and I have ZERO psi (the car was actually violently surging between 0 and 5 psi) so I toss it in neutral and coast through the traps....to a 10.3@136. That was my 9!!!!

Next pass, I let her have it off the line, and snapped the drivers side axle. As a reminder, this is an NA LSD, so I am shocked it lasted this long as is!!

Fixed the axle, and TnT was closed. They would not run it the rest of the night! Partied the rest of the night, and drove home.

I can say I have never been more disappointing to run a low 10 second pass in my life

Here are a few vids. the 10.8 slosh, and the 10.3 coasting through the traps in neutral. Sorry for the facebook link, I have asked the camera man to upload to youtube.

I was so annoyed that I botched that run, I wanted to see what 20+psi was like on the street. The car goes lean on the dyno in the upper RPM's over 20psi and my wideband was dead, but I didn't care. Maybe it was my pride? Maybe it was all the pork and beans from the PR track crew? Maybe it was the Coronas? Who knows, but that LS1 was in trouble.

When I was within 10 miles of home, I pulled over and gave the MBC a few cranks, here goes nothing! Test hit spiked just past 20psi. Like it So I slowed down to test a 40 roll. 40 in 2nd was 100% useless-I just buried the limiter. Lets try 3rd, more of the same. So I decided to do a 4th gear roll on.

It spun so violently that the car almost came around me at 100+. I had to lift and use the next 2 lanes over to get it sorted out. Glad It was 5am! I did a 3-4th pull with my foot controlling boost and let her have it in 5th. ****. I wish I had the Vbox because that was ridiculous.

Noticed the car was getting warm on my exit, but there is NO one out, and a mile of Blacktop before my street. So, I did what every other hooligan would do and did a 1-2-3-4 rolling burnout. By the time I got home, coolant temp was pegged at 250+. I may have tweaked the HG, but Im not worried. It gives me an excuse to but a HG, studs, and springs in it so I can spin it to 6500 and hopefully alleviate my boost drop issue going into 5th.

What a night!

It has just gotta be a matter of time before that bottom end gives at that level of boost. I am amazed you are running it that high.

I did just recently push the factory head gasket-but I also found out they were paper composites!!! So, they had to go anyways.

MLS gaskets and China studs going back in shortly.

Before you guy buy those China studs you might want to research them. I believe there is a thread on them, tested those, stock head bolts, and arp head studs. If I remember correctly the China studs were weaker than the stock head bolts. Ls9 gaskets are cheap enough and will give 9 layer head gaskets.

Any info on your setup? I was wanting to boost mine but worried about engine reliability. Every shop keeps telling me 500 is the point of no return for the LS1's in terms of drivability and reliability, im over here shaking my head like,,,

Sure thing-built thread here

LSx Budget Dyno Queen. Ls1 Rx7+turbo(s) - LS1TECH

Shops have their pocket, and their reputation to be concerned with. They want o sell you parts, and they also dont want to tell you "sure and LS1 will make 600whp reliably" so when you blow it up, you blame them and needlessly tarnish their name (not saying you specifically, but thats hwy they are telling you that)

I have put this engine through hell and back-and it just keeps on going. I would have zero hesitation setting an LS1 up at 600whp and expecting it to live forever!

Here is a better video of it at the track. It really shows how bad the the fuel slosh issue is the first few passes

Hell yeah dude! Thanks so much for the link. I understand completely about the shop statement, gotta make money and maintain a good rep. Time for me to get back on the drawing board, kinda wish I hadnt just bought a set of JTR long tubes and put that money into a a boost setup instead.
