Will a GTO pullout work in an FC?

Just double checking to see if a complete pullout from a 5.7 GTO will work in an FC... also another question... somebody said the T56 from the Vette's is too long so that the shifter would be way too far back?... is this true? If so which t56's should I use... camaro , trans am, and gto?

im a total ls1 noob but still doin research online so any help would be appreciated in which cars to take it out of, etc... hopefully ill be buying the motor and things soon because the car im selling to fund this should be sold by the end of next week (have a verbal agreement with buyers unless they reneg)

It should.

The LSx series Vettes all use transaxles, so they won't. You want the F-body or GTO T56.

The GTO engine uses a front sump pan that will not fit in an FC. YOu will have to swap the oilpan and pickup to one from a Camaro. You should also double check the shifter location of the GTO T56 compared to an F-body T56. I believe they are different. The GTO T56s are also not as strong due to the 2.97 first gear ratio compared to the 2.66 first gear in an F-body T56.

Yeah, I was looking into a 04 gto pullout before I ended up with my camaro engine. People have done it and it will work, but you'll need a rear sump oil pan as mentioned before...I'm pretty sure all the gears on the gto t56 are shorter and closer together, which you probably won't want because gearing is already often a problem when your stuck with a 4.1 ratio TII rear.

Good points. I'd forgotten about the different oil pan and transmission gearing/
