The 302 block does tend to crack in half but if you use a main stud girdle from either trick flow or ford performance solutions and a lifter valley girdle then the block wont flex as much which in turn makes it a lot more stable.

Ford Motorsports or Dart 302 blocks are a lot stronger... might want to check them out.

Also, do you guys REALLY think youre going to be pushing 500+ hp out of these motors? And, uh, 302s are about the same weight as a LS1, if not a little less. Moving the battery into the passenger side bin would help with crossweight but front-rear balance is really the last thing youre going to be worried about.

The modulars are alright, but theyre HUGE, and dont make enough power (IMO) to make up for their gargantuan size and rather high weight. Besides, they cost more and going OHC for the sake of OHC is pointless.

The all iron blocked/heads of the Ford 302 weighs about the same as the all aluminum LS1? You sure about that?
