V-8 conversion companies other than Granny's and Henson??
V-8 conversion companies other than Granny's and Henson??
First, I'm sorry to post such a sacreligious subject in a room full of rotor fans, but I figure you guys probably see enough of the V-8 posts to know the information I seek, so I appologize on the front end for posting a question like this here.
I'm looking at doing to a V-8 swap into a 2nd gen RX-7 but after reading so many horror stories about Granny's, I'm interested in finding out who else besides Henson makes kits or kit parts for the swap. I've got two engine trans combos to choose from. I've got a 97 vortec 350 with an Edelbrock multiport injection conversion and a 700R-4 trans, and I've also got a 347 (stroker) small block Ford with a Lentech built AOD trans.
I'd really prefer to build the car with the Ford and I have excellent fabrication skills and all the tools, mig and tig welders, machine tools etc you could ask for, as well as a shop with a lift. I feel pretty comfortable with the wiring info I found on Granny's, and I could do the whole conversion from scratch, but in the interest of time, I'd like to find some kit parts that will expedite the process.
Also any links to V-8 coversion owner sites or other gen 2 V-8 RX-7 conversion sites would be appreciated. I've already found a few, but I've just started the search tonight and your site seems to be the most heavily traffic'd RX-7 site I've found. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

This will most likely be moved to the "other engine conversions" forum, soon, so look for it there. For the small block ford, Chris Vetters has diagrams (with measurements) of the motor mounts he used for his car. If you're getting into a conversion, go to www.torquecentral.com with your questions. Other than that, I don't know too much else, so I won't go on saying anything more.
you could try www.hinsonsupercars.com As for Henson, never heard of him

I have a lot of respect for the rotary purists. My sister got a 90 GXL brand new for a college graduation present, and I'd have to say it was one of the most fun cars I've EVER driven in stock form. However, I'd have to "come clean" and tell you all that I'm really big Mustang fan and I have my own Mustang web site . I have raced 10.5" tire heads up Mustangs for a quite and while and am still a partner in a supercharged EZ Street 91GT that runs mid 5's (8th mile).
The V-8 RX-7 project was a way to keep from losing a ton of money on an engine/fuel injection system that I put in a truck that got badly side swiped while it was parked, not a month after spending thousands of dollars on it. After a former co-worker recently did a 350/200R4 swap into his 86, I've been totally consumed with the idea of doing one myself. And what better home for the nearly new 1997 4 bolt Delco Crate Vortech 350 with a new Edelbrock EFI system and 700R4 trans from the wrecked truck. With any luck I'll end up with a nice daily driver that will be fun to drive, but get good mileage, and I can play with it at the track if I desire.
Those rotards who can't take the torque, some of us just want reliable power and our greatest worry being the rear end and tires, not coolant and intake temps, knock sensors, boost leaks, bad solenoids and bad gas, apex and side seals, <12:1 a/f ratios, availability of super high ocatane premium gas, etccccccccccccccccccccc.
