Selling 13b-rew Going V8

Anyone done the V8 thing in here? I'm going V8 due to many reasons. I guess you guys all know why one would already. Selling the motor, burning copious amounts of oil. Possibly the turbos. Anyhow reply to thread if you want it. Thank you.

What are you asking? I'm interested if the price is right (or, of course, free)...

PM me.

You're doing the right thing. The modern pushrod v-8 is the better of the rotary by every objective measure. Why would you want all of that old crusty decade old rotary crap in there when you could have a nice new modern v-8.

And as far as subjective measures? The v-8 rumble is better than the mufflerless-weed-beater-leaf-blower-spazztastic rotary sound any day.

Another rotary bites the dust.

I wish you were closer to Texas so that I could waste your booty on the highway, and then shoot a flame at yer nasty *** V8 piece-o-poop

Well identical except for my superior powerplant!

HA HA!

Have fun with those oil leaks and apex seals!
I take it the V8 conversion didn't come with a dose of maturity for the driver, huh ?

Rebuilt my motor myself, not one leak, great compression, and traps 125 in the quarter on street tires and pump gas. Think you can keep up, tough guy? No need to reply.

Sure. I'm know I'll hang out in Garland quite a bit after I redeploy, or you could just stop by the shop in Haltom City

Hey Rich, I'm going to be up at Hood in August, maybe September this year. I was planning on riding with my buddy in his car but I could have sworn I heard an open challenge..... I'll be living back up in Birmingham by then and it isn't that far from there. I'm sure by then I'll be tired of embarrassing Stephen and Bryan, so I'll be looking for fresh meat. Interested in a couple runs??

Sure. I'll be back at Fort Hood in August, and should have the 7 back in Texas in September. I'd be glad to run ya. It seems like the longer I'm deployed out here, the more people want a piece of me

The more people gunning for you, the more flattered you should be. (with that philosophy, you should feel like a damn movie star over there) It's when people aren't wanting to run you, something's wrong. I have this feeling that Stephen and I are going to engage in this never-ending battle of one-upsmanship pretty soon. We haven't had any opportunity to run with each other in a very long time so it should be interesting. I don't think either one of us really know what to expect. We'll shortly see.

In the meantime, don't get yourself shot over there. I don't want to hear any, "I would have kicked your *** if it wasn't for this damn bullet in my leg." We've all heard that lame-*** excuse before.

Yeah, I suppose you're right. Me and Stephen have virtually identical setups, so running him and then running me should have similar results. I'm sure you've heard how Stephen fared at the 1/4.......do you really think you'll be able to beat him? Is your V8 forced induction?

Oh, and do you know this tbielobocky clown personally? I sure hope this thread isn't indicative of his personality in "real life" .

I don't plan on getting shot........although the damn RPGs are pretty hard to dodge sometimes

Nah, I don't know that tbiel-guy. Stephen and I talk all the time about our respective setups, but neither one of us really knows for sure how we'll match up. Like I said, we'll see here very shortly.

Yeah, those pesky RPGs can be a bitch. My philosophy: stay away from anything worth hitting. Chances are they won't waste one on an individual person, they like the motorized targets. Screw the caravan, hump it.

I don't think people understand

I love the RX-7. I think it has the greatest fun factor for an affordable car. But as far as reliability, it's the lowest on the list. If you list all the pros and cons of both engines you'll see that the LS1 is a better choice. The rotary is an awesome engine. I love the sound that no other engine can emulate, but I hate the problems it creates. I want to enjoy the car, not worry about it all the time. Maybe this new RENESIS wankel is a hit, but the last one that Mazda made goes to the pit. There are way too many flaws under that hood. The cooling is nowhere decent. I bet all you rotary lovers out there spend a small fortune keeping your cars. I don't blame you, but I'm doing what I think is best for me. First of all, I'm in the military(enlisted, so I'm super poor) and I'm a college student. The LS1 is an awesome engine, not to mention the 6-speed t56 coupled with the rx-7's 4.10 rearend, and the torque of a 5.7(Can you say kickass powerband.) The LS1 is LIGHTER than the 13B with all it's gadgets. Still maintain 50/50 weight distribution. 20/27mpg(thank god!) No overheating problems. Stock LS1 in an rx-7 does high 11(Do you know how much power you need out of the 13b to do that?) Cheaper mass produced parts. Definately longer engine life. No comparison. LS1 wins. You see pistons aren't so bad after all, that's why all these car companies never pursued the wankel design, even after buying the patents. How many companies? One? Besides rotaries aren't that bad *** without turbos, any engine is bad *** with turbos, look at lingenfelter's twin turbo vette. I like to see a powerband like that. Not from a 13B, can you say lag.
