RX-7 Chev V8 motor mounts

Hi I'm new to the forum and just purchased an 85' RX-7. I have a couple of questions about the V8 swap as I am completely new to RX-7's. Do all I need for the swap is motor mounts or is their anything else I will need. Also will a 5.7 Chev into the trans, I assume it will but am not sure thanks. Will anything be notting for the trans or will it go straight in ie. Will the clutch and flywheel go right in. Also how hard is this swap, in my mind it looks like only a couple of hours after I get my engine rebuilt. Thanks and I love the site.

Yeah, I'm afraid you won't get a whole lot of assistance in swapping out the rotary in this section, sorry. We're pretty much all rotards in this section. If you wanted to stay rotary, you'd have more than ample amounts of help, though. And as far as any non-engine related problems go, there is vast amounts of information as well. We just don't know anything about piston swaps in here.

You would definatly need a new trans to go with the motor, along with a new driveshaft, rearend etc. I dont think that a rx7 thrans has the same bolt patter and even if it did, it couldnt handle all that torque, neither would the rearend.

+1 on the grannysspeed shop

granny's tells you everything that you need to know

the easyest v8 to put in your car would be the ford small block 302

you can also buy most everything that you need for the project at granny's

you will need there motor mounting kit, a t5 tranny, and the ford 8.8 rear end, everything that you can get from granny's is bolt up and go.

I know that you will of course need more parts for your engine, but you can get those most anywere. hope that I helped ya out a little.... cheers

Ok I want a Chev engine in it. I've heard that their both easy so I'm intent on going with the SBC. Will the ford T5 tranny fit the chevy or what transmission do I need. I'm a honda guy so I dont know. Also wont the stock rear end work. It said it would of grannyshop
