Questions regarding v8 fd

Hello everyone, Not sure if this is the right place to ask these questions. A little background on myself i once had a 350z with a 2jz producing close to 550 whp. I loved the car but i had to get rid of it to finish my studies and get career back on its path. I loved the car and still miss it to this date (close to 3 years) but i did have certain issues due to the swap and this is what raises concerns for another swap project.

I will most likely be starting this swap sometime in the end of 2014 or beginning of 2015 (im doing my homework and want to have all the funds available). The whole goal of this build is a performance street car that i can take to the track with a track tire set up and have some fun but if i want to go out on saturday night i can still do so and not smell like gas or exhaust fumes. I am not attempting to be the fastest or lightest i just want a car that puts a big smile on my face and keeps up with most high price sports cars looking like a lightly modified factory car. My hp goal is somewhere around 550 rwhp all motor and maybe 700 to 800 rwhp with nitrous (thought of turbo but not really crazy about it at the moment).

My main concern is the creature comforts working properly like the a/c, the power steering, all my gauges working, radio and all that sort of things. I had issues with the a/c and the power steering with my 350z when i did the swap. What can you fellas and ladies (if any in here) offer in advice and knowledge on this topics. Thank you in advance.

Creature comforts.... hardest/most annoying part is A/C
Luckily, there are a few guys that make a kit for it.

You will be able to maintain everything fairly easily.
With just a cam and longtubes, you can get close to 400rwhp.
Keep in mind the FD chassis is one of the lightest cars you can have.. lighter than that of any C5 or C6 (corvette for those that are unaware - C7 is the latest version)

(2900lbs)/(400rwhp) = 7.25lbs/rwhp
FD weight/LS1

(3400lbs)/(7.25lbs/rwhp) ~ 470 rwhp
Insert any car that has this weight
I know there are 350z's that weigh this much (depending on models
MKIV supra's weigh this much

Take what you will from this, but hopefully it'll put things in perspective.

To get 550rwhp, you'll need a lot of work.
LS3 would be a good start.
LS1's (cheapest/easiest engine to get) could get close to 500rwhp with some serious heads and a wild cam.

One thing to remember... v8's typically put down power quicker vs a turbo.
I'm not trying to get into a stupid debate about turbo lag and such but just take it as my opinion. I too have past with 2jz's.... mine had a decent GT40 turbo.

Good luck and see you on norotors
