Pre-throttle intake question
I have seen this, and similar intakes, and was curious what's the carbon fiber part? Is that the filter, or is it just part of the intake housing?
I'm talking about the oval carbon fiber part....

Little searching, and it kind of looks like ....
RP-5135 K&N UNIVERSAL AIR FILTER
Not sure if the length is right, but, it kind of looks like it.
I think for now, i'm on the right track. Just need to measure my area and verify it'll fit.

Correct it's a K&N and that's a Samberg rad setup in that picture there which are no longer available.
I had one for a bit, no major issues but some folks have problems with MAF readings as you are pretty close to the throttle body. The pictured car has a card style MAF in that pipe which is a bit better it seems but there is still flow issues with distance as the MAF is recommended to be further from the throttle to get an accurate reading.

Thanks for the info!
Mine is going into an FC, and I am speed density. So, it should be okay. I was noticing vacuum as I got higher in the RPM, and utilizing a Corvette intake piece, that is the squished type.
I'm mounting radiator a little different now, which will allow the full 4 inch piping to pass over it.
