Other Engine Conversions.....
Hey all, I have been planning on my v8 swap for a couple of years now. I have been planning on doing the typical 350/5 or 6spd swap, but lately have been considering a sbf swap due to the numbers of available drivetrains from the many mustangs on the road.... I mean not on the road
One of my co-workers is a ford nut and has a 72 Panterra, a 68 Shelby (true Shelby), 3 SVO mustangs, an auto T-Bird SC, a 5 spd T-Bird SC, and several other cars.
He also has a complete drivetrain of of another T-Bird SC that he totaled a few years ago, and offered it to me for helping him doing some engine swaps he needs to get done. It has complete wiring harness and exhaust and fuel lines/pump.
I am not very knowledgable about the 3.8 Supercharged v6. Any one here have any experience with them, and do you think this would be a good swap?
Of Course, I would prefer a GN turbo v6, but they aren't exactly growing on tree's around here. I think the SC engine would be different, and somewhat fun. I found out that stock they put out between 210-230hp @ 4000rpm, and 315ftlbs of torque at 2600rpm.
Any info/ comments / suggestions (positive ones please) are welcome.
Later,
Bill

i put a 3.8 out of an 85 mustang in my fc
it fit well and with a couple of turbos from ford probe/mazda mx6 it really puts out eats up mutang cobras and z28s no problem
only issue is that the 3.8 with its all aluminum top end is very light so i am now *** heavy and have bump steer issuses with the stock suspension
