My turbo 5.3 FC

Well, it's the never ending project, but I figured I'd make a thread in this new, awesome section.

I've owned this car for 6 years. It was my first car and started life as an N/A GXL that ran great until the time it was pulled. It first had an N/A 400RWHP LS1 and T56 in it, and then the FI bug bit me. That was over a year ago. It's mostly done, but I've just not had the time lately (job, buying house, etc.) but hopefully over this winter I can finish getting it sorted.

No power or ET goals, it will be fun to drive either way. The setup should be good for 650RWHP or so, I'd guess. The turbine on this turbo is going to be restrictive.

Don't mind the wheel gap in the rear. That'll be fixed with shorter springs on the rear coilovers.

Basically, the setup is:

Stock bottom end L33 (aluminum 5.3), 9.9:1, 799 heads
Patriot gold dual springs, Comp Cams pushrods, ARP head bolts, LS6 cam, LS9 head gaskets
80lb injectors, E85, dual Walbros, -6 feed
LS6 intake manifold with ported stock TB
Turbonetics TC76 .96AR
1.80 PowerGlide
Granny's 8.8", 3.55 gears, Strange spool, Aerospace drag brakes
275 drag radials

Basically just going to be a street car when it's done. It just has a 4 point roll bar. No heat/AC/power steering and the whole dash is gutted. I'm hoping it's under 2,900LBs.

Thanks. It wouldn't have been possible without the help of the community over at No Rotors. I'm definitely green to all of this.

And yeah... the exhaust is definitely not legal but around here cops don't seem to care about that stuff. It's surprisingly not that loud at idle and low RPMs. The EWG dump tube is also pointing in the general direction of the downpipe exit lol.

I had an SRT4 a couple of years ago and that was definitely louder than this is.

Car looks great David. You need to bring it out to an SNS sometime so we can take pictures of them side by side. With my car now a pretty much stock body S5 in black, they'll look very, very similar.

Thanks guys - appreciate the comments. Here is a copy and paste from No Rotors.

Now that the weather is better I'm ramping up on getting it done. I bought some little stuff I needed (hood struts on the way too) and also sent a few dollars for some great condition Infini seats. I've always wanted these so I figured why not? They're sort of ugly and sort of not... just like the FC.

So yeah, I'm committed to this thing being done and tuned by June 1.

Hey! Thanks guys.

What do you want of the oil pan? It's just an fbody oil pan. Clearance is the same as any other V8 RX-7. I use the Granny's mounts. The oil pan sits about flush with the bottom of the kmember.

I got the RX-7 dug out of storage this weekend. I'm going to spend some quality time working on it next weekend.

Things to do:

Figure out driveshaft alignment (it's rubbing a bit on the front torque arm mounts and needs to be centered. Any suggestions for centering this would be appreciated.)
Bleed brake lines
Fill rear end with gear oil
Mount shifter (I'm probably going to use some angle iron and box it in)
Locate lugs for the rear wheel studs (I only have 6, need 10)

I'm thinking about plasti-dipping the RPF1s black to see what it would look like. I intend to get the windows tinted pretty dark, and I feel like black would compliment everything else pretty well.

The Infini seats should be here Wednesday. I'll post pics when I receive them. One of the bolsters is worn so I might have that fixed. I'm not sure yet how bad it is (with the pics it wasn't easy to tell) so I'll look on Wed.
