Here's an interesting perspective that I haven't seen before. I knew the steering rack was low in that car, but the second picture shows just how low... competing with the oil pan for lowest point on the engine cradle...

im not saying to do it, because as others have said 2jz parts are apparently made of gold, it will get expensive.

Let's see some pictures. Unless he moved the engine up and/or used a dry sump oil pan, the steering rack had to go down. If you move the steering rack down and don't compensate by using spacers at the tie rod ends to regain stock steering geometry, you will have bump steer. It's that simple.

he trimmed about a 6 inch square of the hood reinforcement to clear the timing belt. so I would assume that it sits higher than SP's did.
Again, I am 99% sure that he just made mounts for it to go onto the stock subframe

While leaving the rack in the stock position and cutting a hole in the hood is one solution, a lot of people aren't interested in destroying an aluminum hood or the lines of the car.
