Pretty much ^

Just spend an hour or so reading this thread... I'm so jealous of your fabrication skills. I took a few welding classes about 2 years ago but I haven't welded anything since :( I need to get back into it and get myself a machine.

Pics of your welder? haha :)

awesome build and fabrication mate !! :D

Jimbo II 05-21-10 08:03 PM

Epically awesome. Very tidy. Loving the interior finish with the cage. Nice work!

GoRacer 05-21-10 08:47 PM

That is stunning work. :shocking:I wish I could do all that. :worship: The harness through the oem seats was creative. I love the insillation to give it that modern luxary car quietness. :ninja:

Is an LS1 a GTO or Corvette engine? Did you buy a crashed car or peiced the engine, harness and trans' seperately?

Its out of both, and he said where he got the swap in his first couple post's.

This is an incredible thread, very impressive work.

I would just like to caution you about using Brake Cleaner before welding as described in post 18. I'm no expert and have no idea how likely this really is, but there are warnings on the can I have about the possibility of creating phosgene gas. Many thousands of soldiers were killed in world war 1 from phosgene. I took a photo of the warning on the can of CRC Brakleen I have and found a link to a story about a guy who caused himself permanent serious damage. Tried to include them here but don't have enough posts. You might try and google "brewracingframes phosgene" and read the warnings on your can of cleaner.

Sounds like a nasty way to die. Please be careful and find another cleaner!

Kevin Doe 05-24-10 07:30 AM

Thanks for the word of caution. Probably shortly after I made that post I found that "brewguy" article and switched to using acetone. Sounds like really nasty stuff.

Wow I wish I had your patience and amount of time to dedicate to the toy. Glad you took the time to document.

Callsign_Vega 05-24-10 11:37 PM

That is a lot of pictures. You must have like hours worth of holding a camera. Sweet fab work.

Very impressive build!

Where in Cincinnati are you located? I'd love to check the car out in person

t-von 05-27-10 09:11 PM

Kevin this thread is a perfect example of how to post build projects and not 3 yrs long dreams. I love how you waited till it was finished b4 posting. I'm doing the same with my 20b project. I've been working on it for a little over 3yrs as well and done all my own fabrication. We are both a like in many ways with your approach in how you just plainly wanna fab everything yourself. Your fabrication skills are superior! I'm getting ready to paint my car and your water cooling vapor tip is gonna help me tremendously. Much props and fantastic project!

do u have the behemoth of a build thread from v8rx7forums saved somewhere to upload to here or another place... now that v8 seems to have gone under?

silvr94r2 05-27-10 10:20 PM

Nathan Kwok 05-30-10 02:12 AM

I've been on this forum since day one (almost 10 years now!) and I have to say this thread ranks in the top 10 of all time threads. What a build! And I'll second everyone else by saying kudos to you for FINISHING the build before posting it.

boostbuilders 06-01-10 10:54 PM

Speechless............God Bless You

Black Magic 06-02-10 05:55 PM

yeah man, you won for sure for gnarliest pic build thread! All the work looks great!

ronbros3 06-02-10 08:06 PM

and just so cool to see that 1955 chev bolt pattern, block to trans housing(not to oil pan tho).

that is the mandated NASCAR block bolt pattern on the block. i seen a nascar toyota engine and had the same pattern.

small world , how things can overlap.

and yes, you have a lot of work and thought into that hotrod.(not countin money)

djdiablo 06-05-10 06:41 AM

I would like to know how much the car weighs now.....

FDTC 06-15-10 04:41 PM

RXILVER7 06-16-10 11:17 AM

This build is #ucking insane (in a good way). Even rotory loyalists can appreciate the quality work put in here.
