I put a LT-1 in my FB. The LS1 should fit the engine bay in a first gem is actually quite large. My concerns would be possibly having to modify the oil pan since its aluminum. I have not seen anyone else put a LT-1 in a FB much less a LS-1. Before someone quotes me on that just because I havnt seen it dosnt mean it hasnt happened. If you go with a Ls-1 you will need to have someone notch the pan and tig weld it back together. Other than that I cannot think of any issues except for the brake valve clearance which is easy to deal with. You will need to use stock manifolds and weld up a custom exhaust for either option or have custom headers made. IMHO custom headers would be a waste of $$ since you would already have more HP than you can use. With my LT-1 FB I can get wheelspin almost whenever I want. I would suggest a LT-1 just because its more than enough power and much cheaper, also Grannys steel pan fits it and its a bolt in deal. If you like pain and spending $$ then go with the LS-1. But I feel the LT-1 is a easier swap having done one and any extra money in the budget can go towards wider tires and rims which are much needed.

If you meant NYC..absulutely not! I am not a city person. I would never drive my RX-7 in NYC traffic....I dont even park it in large parking lots. I like helping others with common interests. I am currently in the packing process and moving to NC. I keep meaning to post pictures but never seem to find the time. Your friend will be very happy with a LT-1 I really think the LS-1 is a beautiful engine but its just not needed in this situation. Theres some nice 7's in NYC already.....check out Romeo Allens red GSL-SE its a 3rd gen powered street legal race car that runs 9.64 quarters at 142 MPH!!!
