L33 aluminum 5.3 w/t56

has anyone on here thought about doing the aluminum L33 5.3 GM motor in there rx7... i just recently picked up a 86 base model and its high on my idea list... why?..

310hp, aluminum block, flex fuel capabilities(i live in midewest... E85 FTW)... and you can mate it up with the t56(6 speed) transmission no problem...

what should i be looking for if i were to pull this off... custom mounts, radiator, ECU??, driveshaft, and most likely running an ls1/ls series intake for clearance.

let me know... any links/ threads would be helpful

btw... i have vast mechanial knowledge so wiring/ swapping wouldnt be that hard for me...i'm just new in the rx7 game

Just look up any LS1/RX7 swap information. You will want a F-car intake, and front accessories (alternator/waterpump/crank pulley), as well as an F-car oil pan, windage tray and pickup. Beyond that, everything is the same. F-Body harness is probaby easiest, but you can modify a truck harness to work, same with ECU.

I'm running an iron 5.3L (LM7) in my car with a T56, and I, literally, just pulled my dead LSx motor out and swapped shortblocks.

FWIW, you can make good power with that motor also, I'm ~415 RWHP on a heads/cam/headers setup out of a lowly 5.3L.

i have thought about it... on ls1tech they are making 350 rwhp with ease on this engine with cam and header... i like the idea.
