Ford C4 tranny question on 351 swap
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
hey guys. I just purchased an 88 RX GXL with a 351 swap backed by a c4 tranny (3 speed) the previous owner also swapped to a RX turbo rear end which i believe is 4.10.
question is with only the 3 speed tranny is the car going to be streetable or will it be revving extremely high in third gear with the step rear end gears?
any help is appreciated. The car is not running yet so i wont be able to find out for myself for the next few weeks or so.

Yes if your on the highway you'll be over 4k cruisin around 65 or 70 assuming 3rd in the c4 is 1.00.
Its streetable, you just wont be able to have any fun on the highway. If you get good tires you'll have a pretty good 1/4 mile time but you'll probably run out of gear before the 1/4.
The best diff ratio for an all around 3 spd swap is around 3.10

Does the RX-7 rear end have replaceable gears that are easy to find? Like on my Mustang I swapped from the stock 3.27 to a 4.10. Are there gear sets out there that fit the RX-7 rear end? Thanks for any help.
