Ford 302 swap
I just bought a 89 crown vic that I was going to take the 302 motor out and put it in my fc. I was wondering if I would be able to use the wiring harness from the crown Vic on my rx7, and was also wondering if a 5 speed tranny from a mustang would work with the 302, I'm on a budget

the t-5 tranny from a mustang should mate up to the motor and the harness will work but will need to be wired up to plug into the rx7. my swap was done carburated and i have been planning on converting to fuel injection for possible boost later. but if you come across an easy way for the harness let me know

Ohkay cool thanks I was thinking the Td would hook up to it. Did you have any issues doing the swap? This is my first motor swap I'm doing on my own

No, it is not stock!

Take a look at Grannys speed shop web site, search around and you will find the section for 1st gen RX-7 swaps, then find the Ford 302, and finally a section for Brad Bergholdt's conversion , with details of the wiring and other parts. An excellent writeup, I think the guy is an auto shop teacher.

Keep us updated on the harness mate! I'm trying to budget for a standalone TBI but if you can figure out how to work the factory harness that would make life a little easier

another thing is the t5 has a transmission tag on it if you don't know what it came from. make sure your clutch, flywheel, clutch fork, and bell housing all come from the same make/model. input shaft sizing changes making the changes to these parts.
