engine swap

so I was thinking about swapping my old rotary for a V8 powered engine, and one of my buddies from work was telling me how the frame of a RX7 does not like the weight of the heavier V8's. What do you guys think?

I'm not sure your buddy knows what they're talking about. A quick google search will show you that people have been v8 swapping Rx7's for decades. Now I personally wouldn't swap an iron block v8 into one of these, but that's because I build track cars and something like that adds a lot of weight over the nose of the car.

I think that you probably shouldn't do it. If your skills at putting together a car mirror your ability to figure out if advice is good or not and your ability to do basic deductive reasoning than it's not for you.

Well that's one of the reason why this forum exists.

And besides, when does it hurt to ask questions?

Unless the RX is a rust bucket you have nothing to worry about.

Do what you want to do, it is your car and there is nothing wrong with asking questions or wanting someones opinion. But at the end of the day your the one that has to deal with the issues of the car......Just do a little more research before you really dive in this HUGE task.........Once you start there is no turning back.

+2, bolting the engine and trans into the car is easy, it's every thing else that will test your commitment and checking account.

I was considering Ls at first but now I've been trying to research swapping the ford coyote motor. The power is amazing.just not sure if the dual over head cams would fit.
