Can I mount a Mustang T5 World Class to an 89 350SBC

Hey the deal Is I got a mustang T5 world Class Tranny with 20,000 miles on rebuild,{I thought I was getting a chevy]Anyway ddaves79rx is using a V6 T5 with a special clutch and a v8 bellhousing to mount the v6 to a V8 and granny's speed shop says you can put a v6 T5 behind a v8 if you use the special clutch and bellhousing, even though the splines are a different count.

So I am wondering would it be possible to just swap a camaro Bell housing on my Mustang Tranny and use a special clutch to get it to work?Because its the same as a Chevy World class just with a different bellhousing and different spline count.
So since you can get a v6 tranny with a different spline count to work why cant you get a ford with a different count to work?

Thanks.

The Camaro and Firebird used the T5 world class, all you should need is the bellhousing and linkages.

Ford T5 with chevy engine

So,are you saying all I'll need is a bellhousing from a camaro[which somebody here has]and the linkages to bolt it up?

What is a linkage excactly? I havn't seen them for sale by themselves, where would I get a linkage to bolt to a chevy?also would I need a new input or output shaft with the right number of splines?
thanks.

Ok I talked to Grannys speed shop

Ok I talked to Granny's speed shop, and he said that it would be possible to bolt up a ford tranny to a Chevy 350,he said people have done it.

He said I need to get a Chevy bellhousing from a camaro,a pressure plate for my Chevy engine, and a clutch disk that will fit my ford Transmission and that also fits my Chevy pressure plate,is there a clutch that will actually fit both? Does anybody know if doing all this will work,or is there more I'd have to do?

Grant suggested to get a v6 camaro trannny,as they are easier to find and just use a special clutch disk.I know people here use the v6 behind a v8 but I'm worried about how well it will hold up.the best T5 world class trannys aren't real strong and I'm worried that I'll be eating the v6 trannys up.

I'm kinda worried about spending a lot of money making the mustang tranny or v6 tranny bolt up if they wont last long.

My other option is a 200r4 Transmission I can get for 150 bucks, and jsut put a shift kit in it,but I'd rather do a manual if I can afford it.

how many threads are you gonna get relating to this? bottom line, if your gonna beat on the tranny and power shift all the time, you need the T56. If your gonna go launch this thing at huge rpm then you need a new rear end. I already told you grant has a 550hp car with a V6 tranny, i beleive he is on 2 years with the thing. The NEWER V6 trannys have better synchros than the V8s. Remember an 80s V8 made not far from the same power and the 90s V6.
