Glad to read all these swap reports- this only convinces me that the rotor motor must go and the V6 slips into its place. I have advertised the motor and trans. (88vert) but nobody seems to want these components, but I would like to think somebody out there would be interested- guess I'll lower my asking price- may have to PAY somebody to come and get it!

And right there you present one of the most compelling reasons for the NA owner to swap.
Save for the truly desperate, who wants a NA drivetrain?
Spend the money on a rebuild and end up with what, 140 rwhp?

Maintain brand purity and go for the turbo swap, get 175 hp at the wheels...oh baby.

Spend slightly more, drop in a V-8 (or a 6 of some sort) and you not only have significantly more HP but more importantly, torque.
Maintenance is cheaper/easier, mileage is better, the upgrade path is unlimited.

When was the last time you saw a "My NA Build!" thread?

I was lucky and sold my NA for $50 more than I paid for my ford 302.

Skyline Swap

I built a street ported 12a for my 84GSL back in 1997, but I always have too many cars, so I only drove it 36,000 miles. I recently sold it for $1500, with RB header, trans and light flywheel. For an additional $200 I bought a complete front clip from a 1992 Skyline with a 2.0 turbo engine. What you see in the video is the first startup, and we know it sat for a year in the warehouse after coming from Japan.

This car is several hundred pounds lighter than the Skyline, and so we are hoping to get 28-30 mpg. I was getting about 18 mpg with my Ford 302 powered FB, and of course it had more torque. I really enjoyed driving the Ford car, but I have been wanting to do a genuine "ricer" swap, so here we go.

I highly recommend anyone doing a V8 or other higher powered swap into a 1st gen RX-7 should do the 5 bolt big brake swap. I did this in 2003, and now kits are available.
