4l60-e

As anyone put the gm 4L60-e trans in a FC? I was looking on granny for the trans crossmember and wasn't one listed. I wanted to know I someone has installed one, what crossmember they used? who/how was driveshaft modified? And results from using it. The reason I want to know is because I was looking to upgrade my 200-4R to the 6 speed, hoping for better shifts & not having to upgrade for HP/ Trq handling. Thanks

Edit to post- not 6 speed, 4 speed electronic - and was told that the 700 was same size as 4L60...the 6 speed was also said to be garbage and too busy for the motor I'm running (lt1)

A 700r4 and 4l60e is the same thing however with an electrical output for the speedometer. Don't ask why it's a different name...it's gm lol

700r4 is non electronically controlled, 4L60e is electronic. Both are the same size externally and fit an FD without issue. You can mod a stock shifter to work also. Granny's has a crossmember and Ronin may have one also. Neither of those transmissions is very strong.

4l80e will fit but you must go turbo because of exhaust.

My intentions with a new trans is more future functionality and strength. I plan on upgrading power another 100-150hp next year, and wasn't sure from testimonies that keeping my 200-4r would be practical. Also, with these 6speeds out there, I thought that may make nice road trans that can do hwy & city driving being easy on mpg. One things is, I don't want to invest too much too soon. New crossmember & driveshaft & comp would add to cost of changing to new trans, from testimonies again, is said to be able to handle more power than 200-4r.

700 would be amazing with a steel cage, z packs, and a corvette servo. Do not just throw a tranny in your car. If the motors built the tranny needs to be built as well.

A stock T56 can take much more power than a 4L60 or a 2004r, FWIW.
