440 Dodge Powered 1987 Rx-7

hahah. just got my 440 dodge charger motor rebuilt and its on the engine lift hovering over my 1987 base model rx-7. looks like i am gonna have to notch the frame and cut the firewall to make this work. i'm gonna try to keep the motor under a factory turbo hood and keep all interior. this thing is gonna be a beast. does anyone know who can make me a custom crossmember/motor mount? i think the torque of this motor is gonna twist the frame in half--jeremie

haha, that will be quite some work. have you tried the forum section meant for motor swaps? i've never heard of this being done, but who knows. what literage is a 440 anyways?
now i gotta go throw a 20B in an old Charger. i'm sure that'd start a flame war somewhere. hell, ford put a rotary in a mustang and chevy put one in a corvette; time for casio to put one in a dodge.

alright, let me help you out a little with this one.............go and check out www.grannysspeedshop.com and you will find what you are looking for. They sell crossmembers for first and second gen rx7's specifically getting v-8 conversions in their chassis. I personally enjoy sticking with the rotary, but hey, power is power I guess ---(to a certain extent). I'll enjoy my high revs Good luck!!

Have you measured to make sure the engine (with exhaust manifolds) will fit between the frame rails? Or whether the transmission will fit in the tranny tunnel?

They don't sell kits for mopar big blocks though.... Only chevy and ford SB's... You should try a 6 cyl. I didn't have to notch or cut a thing, eng and trans fit perfect, stock hood too....

Kind of funny how you dislike the small engine and started with a car that has a 1.3 liter in it.
