10.9@124 no turbo
Here is a nice video of a ls1 swaped FD. No NOS, no turbo, just motor, and 91 pump gas (no race gas needed to run the times). The ls1 makes it look easy.

Do you have the current updates? Should work fine if your using internet explorer and you have the current media player. I sometimes have problems with the media player when using Opera.

Why does the LS1 make it look easy? Its not easier or harder with a rotary or LS1. You just get 400rwhp and some rubber. Thats all there is too it. The engine is irrelevant. If you have the hp to weight ratio right and you have the rubber for it then its all about the driver....I'd say the driver is what makes it look easy...not the engine.

Stephen- you have overlooked a thing called torque and a wide powerband. These LS1's with cam/heads make 300rwtq at 3,000rpm, 350rwtq at 3,500 and it is pretty flat from there until redline 6500rpm+. The rotary has much less torque and is very peaky HP.
Remember that HP is simply a mathematical equation of torque over time. The higher you rev... technically the higher HP # you can create.
That LS1/FD is hauling *ss. Nice daily driver and on 91 octane!

I havent overlooked anything, you can check out my rotary engine dyno sheet that Rynberg just posted. 412rwhp with 347rwtq. You guys act like a rotary doesnt make any tq, it does....it just doesnt make it off idle.
Like you said, the tq of a LS1 stays flat till close to redline...that is exactly why a LS1 has such a peaky hp band.
Anyway, dont get me wrong...I wasnt saying anything negative about the car or its accomplishments. I was just saying that I think "making it look easy" is more a function of driver, tire, hp, than which actual engine it is.

Nice driving Mas280. Did you do the conversion using Hinson parts? I'd love to see the car and ride in it sometime if you live in East Bay.

Stock 13BREW keg, I can see. Lots of shiny piping, ECU upgrades, big snail, stuff outside of the keg, etc... don't forget those.
I can't see a stock FD going anywhere near that quick.

Just the standard boltons.....intake and exhaust path upgrades with something to tune the car and $400 worth of fuel system upgrades. You dont have to run any turbo upgrades to get that time. Kevin was talking about stock twins. Bone stock engine. Now my dyno chart was with upgraded stock twins but others have made 400rw and 10's on the bone stockers.
Dont forget that this LS1 car also has all the boltons, full intake and exhaust mods, cam, probably LSedit to tune, probably upgraded throttle body. Its making about 100rwhp more than a bone stock one sitting in a Fbody or Vette so its got mods as well.
BTW - Something I forgot to mention....on my dyno run that was on 93octane and I drove the car daily just like that so it wasnt like a one time race gas kinda thing.

Yeah, that's more like it. I do remember a couple of years ago, the quickest FD was in the 11s on the stock twins. I guess as time goes by, somebody new comes along and finds a way to eek just a bit more out of it.
That was my point as a few people would have glanced at KTW's post and thought he was pushing those times with a cone and catback
I agree, it's not hard to make serious power out of a brew. Just like it's pretty easy to make power with a GM V8. They both have their ups... they both have their downs... but either way you slice it they are both quick movers in an FD.

Actually, I believe Kevin hit high 10's on stock twins and engine (by engine I mean block, porting, ect all being stock) I believe back in the late 90's. But as far as I'm aware no one else did it till the last couple years. Mostly because not many people take the time to do things right.

The big snails aren't from back then. I did of course have bolt ons like the modified stock turbos, big IC etc. but that doesn't seem much different than remapping the LS1 ECU and certainly no more than a different cam. I would consider head work the same as porting a rotary, which I didn't have done at the time. Don't get me wrong, these transplants are impressive cars running good times but there's far too much misinformation about the 13Bs running around. They just don't tollerate detonation and people are too F'ing cheap to run race gas when they want to go fast. About 90%+ of the engine failures people complain of are caused by being cheap and trying to run big boost on cheap gas. I NEVER blew a motor after hundreds of 1/4 mile passes, including a lot of trial and error events. Everything held together like a champ as long as I used good gas. I don't understand people thinking they get a merit badge for running on pump gas. It's like expecting people to be impressed that you didn't get herpes from having sex with a skanky prostitute.

You mean you werent impressed by that???
For the record I ran 18psi daily and hit it many times a day on pump gas without a hiccup for over a year and 10K HARD miles making over 400rw on 93octane. I'm now throwing in a GT42, along with blah blah blah and going to try and nail down 500rw on pump gas at 17psi....hopefully I wont get herpes lol
I think it leans more towards people just not setting things up right, doing shoddy work, and not tuning properly and running cold enough plugs. Everyones car sounds mint and well built on the forum....then you go to some rotary get togethers and see tons of cars that have major "shortcuts" to put it nicely LOL
Kevin when did you run high 10's? Wasnt that back in the late 90's???
