what!!!!???? holy shit!

J-Rat 11-15-06 03:54 PM

True story..

No_Rotor_RX7 11-15-06 03:59 PM

that's flippin awesome :)

RETed 11-16-06 12:05 AM

What kind of wastegate are you running?
What rate spring?
I'm suprised the boost didn't go any higher...
I think you're running too "small" a WG spring?

J-Rat 11-16-06 08:41 AM

Its possible. Its a TiAL 46mm with a 12 lb spring.

RotaryEvolution 11-16-06 01:36 PM

iirc a 2.5 dual outflows a 3" single if it was just piping but the mufflers are where it even out the playing field so nothing surprising about those numbers with 2.5" duals, just shows you don't need 4" piping to get decent peak #s

i will be dynoing my car in a couple weeks, i just hope i can get my hands on the methanol injection before then, funds are kinda tight at the moment. i really don't feel like pushing 17+ PSI through this tiny turbo anymore on straight pump.

Lesse...
12# spring...you're only running double that.
Yeah, you should be good.
Funny, isn't the turbo good for 30psi?

Man do I feel at home on this site. So J-Rat how much more do you think you can squeeze out of her. I want a turbo 2 someday when I graduate college but it ain't looking good right now. How often do you kill the Rustangs with that car on the street, man is that car a sleeper.
Nice numbers man keep it up.

I dont think any mustangs have a chance , maybe if the mustang has a forged pistons and a supercharger on it , even then Id still bet J-rats car would blow its doors off, mustangs are tanks.

My brothers old 1990 Eclipse Gsx with a 3" turboback exhaust would make mustangs look like crap on the highway racing with a fullboat (4 people).

He didnt even have to downshift , he'd keep it in 5th gear and walk the mustangs no problem and from a stop of course he'd kill them since he has all wheel drive.

Im sure J-rat may have some wheel spin on the launch , but if he has good enough tires it can be prevented and stop spinning by the time he switches into 2nd gear.

Youd need slicks to see the real potential 1/4 mile time the car would get with full traction.

I think with the right turbo hes capable of hitting 550-600+whp as long as the motor will hold up.

bkg 12-18-06 09:46 PM

how long would a motor last with 550hp -600 cuz I think he drove it to the track and crispeed has one pumping 685 and he drives the heck out it unless that was just for the vid

Node 02-15-07 06:51 PM

ok. so I finally got an answer, its the 2.5" catback.
Man I've been telling you, step up to 4" catback!

and double the wastegate spring? Why not play w/ a 20psi spring or something and see how it reacts?!?

Im just talking out my ass but I think theres still some more oomph in that turbo

Karack: not 2.5" for the duals, but 2.5" from Y pipe and split into even smaller. Its the RB T2 Catback that isn't the turboback

I say go 4" to dual 3", but I dunno if you like your quiet exhaust setup. It is quite cool seeing you pump out that massive horsepower through a 2.5" exhaust.

I would think being 3" from turbo and then 2.5 from catback gives the exhaust gases time to cool down and not need quite as much area to flow.

Reguardless, quiet 500rwhp rotary. Who wouldve thunk it

Well, crispeed runs straight methanol I think. J-Rat runs pump w/ methanol injection (i believe). mmmm, tastey

RotaryEvolution 02-15-07 11:00 PM

rat uses C-16 on the track and Premium w/Ethanol AI on the street.

TehMonkay 02-16-07 12:29 AM

Is this engine made with all S4 irons? Just wondering.

J-Rat 02-16-07 07:25 AM

No, it is not.

chuck8313BTSDS 02-16-07 11:50 PM

J,
What size back half is your turbo? and the car weight with you in the car?
chuck

Brody8877 02-17-07 11:28 AM

J-rat is my new hero and idol now! If he can do that to his S4 on stock ports, then i can to! lol j/p Nice #s tho.

J-Rat 02-17-07 01:18 PM

LOL!!

Thats not a stock motor anymore!!! Its a ported and built one!!!

demontwig 02-21-07 09:26 PM

Out of curiosity, how much did it cost you to get that much power outta it (not including the tuning time)? And how much did the tuning run you? I'm relatively new to tuners, and really new to rotarys. I was getting kinda disappointed with the power numbers these engines were putting out, but then I saw this thread. I know it's not cheap to get this level, but I am not sure just how expensive it is.

88rxn/a 02-21-07 11:08 PM

not cheap at all....im at pry 3K (paid $950 for the S4 TII) and im not even CLOSE to being done...

RotaryEvolution 02-22-07 01:13 AM

it would probably run about $5k for all the mods to get to that power level.

now, unfortunately most people have to go through phases to reach this kind of level. i have yet to see anyone make it on the first try without spending assloads of cash in the process(i mean like $10k+).

could not have said it better myself...

Terrh 02-25-07 12:24 AM

yep, that's exactly it.

my current setup cost me about $3500. (between the engine, ems, turbo, etc - and I took the cheapest route everywhere) - and I'm easily $10k into it though over the years, "learning" engines, 3 different exhausts, 4 different turbochargers (5 as of tonight, bye bye TD07), paint, maintainance, etc....

but when you think about it, there's not too much you can buy for $5k that will hand $150k cars their ass on a platter. It's $5k well spent. :D
