My High Comp Turbo 1/4 mile

Heres a timeslip from my first ever time drag racing, which happened to be in my rx7 with a high compression turbo engine in it.

Details: Totoally stock 6port motor with a T3/T4 hybrid turbo (not a stock s4/5 hitachi) with a Slightly larger exhaust housing and very marginally larger compressor than a stock S4/5. Had a rather small stock supra intercooler up the front cooling the charge air and a microtech fuel only comp running the whole shoting match.

This run was on 4psi, as you can see I only managed a dismal 14.8 with a pretty pathetic 60ft time because of wheel spin probs.

The next run I did at around 6psi after fixing a few probs, I kept up pretty close with another FC that had just run a 13.8, until about 3/4 track when I let off after hearing a strange noise from my engine (turned out to be nothing). So I got a crappy time for that one.. (15.xx....)

Dont forget to look at the R/T. Could use a bit of improvement there.

As I said in my first post, it was a stock 6 port motor... Yes, originally my car was an N/A model.

And TonyTurboII, hehe yeah well, hey it was my first time ever drag racing.. I usually only race on tracks with corners.

Yah, unfortunately a faster RT doesn't equal a faster 1/4 mile time.

It does help on heads-up racing though.

Definately would be better with a little stickier tires or a better launch. They say that for every .1 you take off your 60', you are .2 faster in the 1/4.

Do a search of the main 2nd gen part of this forum, you will find LOADS of info on N/A-> turbo engines.

just quickly since i don't want to clutter up this thread to much, I used.

Turbo
Custom exhaust manifold
Supra intercooler (now replaced with _much_ bigger FMIC)
Lots of shiny stainless steel 'cooler pipping
FD fuel pump
Engineers labour cost for various things....
Microtech fuel only computer
Some misc oil lines/fittings
Some misc coolant lines/fittings

Loads of other crap i've probably forgotten...

Haha lol, yeah I thought that might catch someone out

Since this time i've now rebuilt my motor, it's currently running as just a streeported N/A motor, still with the same 9.4:1 rotors, while I run it in, another 1,000 or so km's...
After that i'll decide what turbo i'm going to put on it..
Probably a much larger one than last time

And yeah your right it was alot faster than that before the rebuild anyway, never really got a chance to take for another run down the strip though..

Another month or so and I should have another time slip to put in here though
