i can drive. i could have pulled a little more out of it, but i wasn't looking to abuse the clutch. i was just sidestepping it ~3000-3500 rpm. my 60' reflected that as they were in the 2.5s range. when i get a new clutch i'll likely go back. i could probally get a 2.3 60' out of it(3.909 rear end, why did mazda have to put the 3.909 with sticks in the 88 vert...)

Ah I was just asking since 17.5 isn't good at all. Good tires? Nice compression? Any other modifcations?

nope, no other mods at all. tires, i think they are fairly good. with a ~3000 rpm sidestep they would spin for maybe 1/4-1/2 second then catch.

not trying to brag or anything, but just saying 79 in the 1/4 is bad.

my 91 NA coupe trapped 88 in the 1/4 (i think 72 in the 1/8th) and it wasnt the quickest.

Green Streak: are you sure the 6pi and the VDI is working?

i've got an S4 so i'm pretty sure there is no VDI to be working. the 6pi, i suspect they are working, but i suppose i could put a but of grease on there to check(powerband seems like they are working, but i could be wrong) and before getting rid of the stock exhaust, i saw them moving with a hard rev in netural.

almost forgot, your 91 coupe has a 4.10 rear end(the 88 verts got the auto 3.909 with a 5 speed) and you've got an S5 160 HP vs my 146(stock vs. stock of course) in addition to being ~250-300 lbs lighter

I don't know, it is a vert and those things are damn heavy (i know i have one), so maybe it's not that bad.

17s is kinda weak , usually stock u can run 16s easily even a high15 if your car is lightweight and u can shift good (although u have the heaviest one the vert)

i expect to run mid 15's in my car and even less once i get more stuff done and learn to drive better

well in that aspect i would be expecting 90-100mph trap speed for 1/4 mile , and 70-80mph for 1/8th mile, running 14.5-15.5 1/4 mile times

Gotta start somewhere.

I drove a '91 vert for a while (gave it to my sister for Christmas), those numbers seem about right for the '88. Personally, I think the verts are a bit disappointing numbers-wise. But what can you do?

lol, i got it cause i needed a car and a red 'vert rx-7 plopped into my lap. it was the second one i had ever seen and the price was right. i wasn't concerned about speed. the car i was planning to get was an AW11 Mr-2
