15.2 NA mostly stock

I ran a 15.2 at the track today in my S4 with onlyintake and exhaust

Ocelot 03-03-04 04:05 PM

Um.....how?

totallimmortal 03-03-04 05:06 PM

6500 rmp launch on bald 205s, power shifted at redline from 1st to second, and shifted soft at 6800 from 2nd to 3rd (have to shift soft, my syncro is bad in 3rd)

Ocelot 03-03-04 06:46 PM

I was under the impression that NA's ran a lot slower like low 16's, high 15's with just intake/exhaust.

BDoty311 03-03-04 06:53 PM

My friend ran a 15.2 something in his GXL with a cold air intake, straight pipe, ported IM, and cat-back.

Black TII 03-07-04 07:09 PM

my brother has a 86 n/a stock exhaust stock MAF and replacement filter and ran 15.8 at cecil county dragway

KiyoKix 03-08-04 10:37 PM

Very nice man...congrats :).

Mr. HKS 03-19-04 05:46 PM

i had s4 base model with intake/exhaust and tied open 6ports, took out air pump, did a 14.92 1/4mile

:bsflag:
Yeah right. wiring ports open with just intake and exhaust wouldnt get you 14 :)

jacobcartmill 03-19-04 10:14 PM

my 91 NA ran a 15.5@88 with gutted cats and a 2" catback, intake, etc. i had some other minor mods like decent weight reduction and minor intake manifold porting. anyways, i was pleased with a 15.5.

totallimmortal 03-20-04 12:26 AM

my first run was a 15.5 i was stoked, then i launched at 7 instead of 5 and i ran a 15.2 lol ohh yeah my car was full interior (not much to it on a base) and it wieghed 2550 lbs

DEZERT I wouldn't be so sure about that why not? I ran a 15.2 and thats not that much faster considering I ran that with completely bald tires, and they are 205, I expect like a 15.0 when i get my new 245s

BDoty311 03-20-04 12:49 PM

Agreed.

stevensimon 03-21-04 04:24 PM

wouldnt wiring the ports open actually slow you down from the loss of torque??

zinx 03-22-04 09:57 AM

No, you only lose torque in low RPMs. If you are in low RPMs when racing, you're doing it wrong.

I'm glad some1 else knows this i'm tired of hearing all the low tourqe loss stuff it may be there but if you want to go fast you don't use low rpms

red13brx7 03-22-04 12:20 PM

amen to that

True, but you drive around on the streets most of the time below 4k, where torque is helpful.

totallimmortal 03-22-04 07:51 PM

True but i'll suffer the loss of low tourque for better acceleration

I ran a 16.2 completely stock, launching like a little girl because it was my first time at the track. I'm expecting mid 15's this season.

Roy James 04-11-04 12:38 PM

I had a mid 14 car on stock ports with Intake and exhaust (mild weight reduction). i think best was 14.6, call the BS flag and ill show you a sea of consistant slips (ran by my buddy and now DSM punk Detruich).

jacobcartmill 04-11-04 09:02 PM

i'm roy james bitch!

RexRyder 04-22-04 04:48 PM

if u get a better reaction time u could probably get 2 in the 60ft.

gerbraldy 04-23-04 03:41 PM

I ran a 15.1 with my totally stock s4 convertible.

No, I'm just kidding
I have not gone to the track cause I need a need clutch bad.

rotoboy20 04-23-04 05:46 PM

not been to the track my self just yet, not since i killed my SVT focus. it ran a 10.4 with a slow ass 1.22 sec RT. hopefully i can get about that in my stock 87 gsl. minus the slow ass RT! oh... its an 8th mile track.

RETed 04-23-04 05:59 PM

WTH, at 89mph traps at 2700# - that's like 150hp at the wheels or almost 200bhp at the flywheel???
Even with an S5 engine rated at 160bhp, that's a 30hp gain from the exhaust and intake???

http://www.turbofast.com.au/Drag.html
You can mess around with this - the numbers are pretty close.
HP is rwhp.

jacobcartmill 04-23-04 08:05 PM

my NA trapped 88mph in the 1/4. all i had was intake/exhaust/mild weight reduction and it was a 15.5@88

KompressorLOgic 05-05-04 01:10 AM

in my 87 se i ran 15.9@ 88 mph with open rb header portes wireed open , no air filter, with 215's . really bad launch tho i know i can do better....

jacobcartmill 05-05-04 01:11 AM

i believe my 15.5 run was a 2.23 60ft

2x88GXL 05-05-04 11:39 AM

i ran 19.9 with intake and exhaust LoL... but then I ran 15.34 and that was cool... my dad ran a 15.14 in my car with a RT of 0.08 seconds (which sounds like bulshit i know) but my rt is .2 or lower usually... idk... what kind of rt's do u all have?

ddub 05-05-04 06:30 PM

I thought a perfect rt was .500? Like that was the lowest you could get?

Detriuch 05-06-04 11:31 AM

god these cars are slow. like roy james sayed i ran a mid 14 with the same mods mr hks has and alittle bit of weight deduction

badboi24u 05-12-04 02:31 PM

not bad

jacobcartmill 05-12-04 02:49 PM

reaction time has nothing to do with ET unless its bracket racing.

the timer doesnt start until the car launches. so you can sit on the line for 10 seconds and run a 15.5

v8rx7pepin 05-16-04 01:51 PM

the guy i bought my gxl from ran a 16.3 with just an intake, spinnin em down the track...not bad i guess

jrios 05-19-04 12:06 PM

my friend was running constant 16.0 w/ a r/b exhaust and bad tires...the engine at that time had about 90k miles on it

Agreed. That's why I stuck with DSMs for so long. But I didn't buy this thing for straight line speed anyway, so I don't feel much of a loss.

pp13bnos 06-02-04 06:39 PM

Hightest mph was a 15.1@97.92mph in my old S5 n/a Rx-7. No weight reduction whatsoever. Best time was a 14.9@93~94mph(?) Before the BS flag is raised, do a search with my name, and find out how much power my car was making, and what was done to it. :D CJ

totallimmortal 06-03-04 01:34 AM

please give more infor on where to find what mods and how much power you had? I just want to compare my times and my HP numbers after the dyno in a week or too, Mainly i want to know if your motor was poorted cause i think my time is damn good for my mods

88IntegraLS 06-13-04 03:46 PM

I just Gteched a 15.5 @ 95, and another time a 15.6 @ 97 . . .

What do good drivers run with a ~96 mph car?

Street port, ported intake, and *stock* exhaust.

ddub 06-13-04 04:21 PM

uhm... ~96 mph should be in the 14's i'd think, or at least low 15's. My 15.3 run with my shitty 60' of 2.35 trapped a 90.70

88IntegraLS 06-13-04 05:10 PM

I've got a date with a real track in a week. My header will be where it belongs - on the car!

KompressorLOgic 06-29-04 05:19 AM

i ran 15.9@85 mph with open header and no airfilter in my 87 se

Kai 06-29-04 03:50 PM

I just ran a 15.56@90.13 in my Sport. My 3rd gear is all buggered, which destroyed my chances at doing any better.

totallimmortal 07-01-04 09:53 PM

Lack of power was felt in my car in 3rd gear if my car pulled in 3rd like it dos in 1st and 2nd then i'd be in low 14s. But NMext I am going to get a header, MSD ignition, and spriings. I still have yet to run my car at the track since i ported the tb, did the tb mod, and got new wheels and tires and an lsd. Those mods since i've been to the track should put me intoo 14s. I'm hoping for a ,mid 14 on the stock ports, then i'll port

That's gearing 101. The actual wheel torque drops in every gear, of course 1st will pull harder then second, second harder then 3rd, etc.

The only way to make 3rd pull harder is to put in shorter gears or add power.;)

actually consistent low 14's with the mph and 2.2 or worse 60 ft.

NCTII87 07-05-04 10:12 PM

work on that r/t and u can pick up alot of time!

mythe7 07-26-04 04:53 AM

wired open ports sucks for just cruising around on the street and coming around a street corner in third and its at like 2k rpm and it takes forever to accel cause theres no low end power. but i have straight pipes and so no backpressure to open them with so i took them off. im doing the s4-s5 IM swap so im gonna wait to try any of the actuator opener mods till then.as soon as i hit about 3500rpm it pulls perfectly fine.
