new best 1/4 for my FD

went last night to bithlo, and ran a 12.488 @ 115. 2.0 60' on street tires. only problem is I missed 3rd gear happy I ran my best time, but pissed cause I know it could have been better if I could shift.

earlier in the night I ran a 13.0 @ 117 with a 2.2 60' and a missed 3rd... a 12.7 @ 117 with a 2.2 60' and no missed shifts, and a 12.9 @ 117 with a 2.3 60' and no missed shifts.

mods:12lb flywheel, act clutch, full exhaust, intake, microtech, streetport, FMIC, 850cc injectors. 15 psi on stock non seq twins.

Third gear is the one just to the right of first gear. Sounds like you need practice, or tranny work, or both

3rd gear is easy to miss, if you haven't missed it your perfect.

Otherwise everyone that has had to fix a 5th gear syncro falls into "missed 3rd gear" club...

I recently conducted a study of your posts and found 76.2% of them to be negative in some way or another.

and with your post count that is alot of negativity.

I didn't miss 3d gear in my first 7 for the first year I had it
once I did though I got it in my head and it was hard to overcome

its very streaky for me wheather I miss it or not I have periods of months where its perfect then other times I miss it 25% of the time

with the short throw shifter you really cant miss it unless you dont have the clutch pushed far enough down

Garfinkles torque brace and a short throw shifter will remove almost all chance of mis shifting into third. Unless you really are just that bad at shifting

im usually not a bad shifter, but like said above, I think my tranny is going south. first was 5th gear grind, now it grinds and pops out of fith sometimes. 3rd is sometimes impossible to get into, even if i take my time and am not racing someone. 4th grinds if i shift fast,

sounds like you need a new tranny to me

the suggested mods i gave you wouldnt hurt regardless. It makes the car shift much better.

I'm not negative. Does that count as a double negative post ?

Four runs with two missed shifts is not very good. That is the truth, it is not negative. I have missed third gear on occasion while racing, but it is very rare. Maybe 2% of the time.

I stand by my statement. He needs practice, or tranny work.

Nices times. Now I know why I had a hell of a time passing your bro. 117 traps to my 120 traps. Thats pretty close! He always wanted to start in 3rd gear from a roll

I used to race out at bithlo when I was at UCF! Good times. Is it still extrememly crowded?

How can you miss third gear? Just throw the shifter upward. Don't even bother moving it to the right, it does that on it's own. Odd...i've never had a problem missing 3rd on any of my cars. Not even on my FB...*shrug* Maybe you just suck at shifting? No offense...

i used the never have problems with 3rd until my 5th got messed up. oh well, new tranny soon.

yeah matt, OSW is still pretty packed.. especially on fridays. if you get there early on weds, you can usually get in a few runs before it gets too packed.
