Ok, here is the Word doc that lists the part numbers for the RS/RZ brake:

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...&postid=524473

Can anybody confirm that the rear splash plate is the same for left and right? Thanks!

I was told that the rear splash guards were interchangeable from right to left, but I can't guarantee that's the case, obviously.

I just need the right and left rear calipers, no splash guards, assuming that the calipers come with the pad backing plates and springs clips required to install pads in them. If those parts are separate, then... well... guess I need them too.

Sorry, been meaning to post the latest - the OE spec rotors should have arrived at Precision today according to the tracking number that artowar emailed. Many thanks to him again for sending them out (again). I'm calling Precision in a little whiles to talk to them in more detail.

Jason has supplied the base price for the calipers, and is basically identical to what Corksport has them for. He did not give a GB price structure, so my last email was to discuss how this will work out. I asked if we could do something that matches the 2 piece rotor GB structure, but I'll need to see what he says before posting more on this.

Of course it means something. You need your parts asap.

The rotors should go quickly now, now that we're down to who will be fabricating it. Talked to Precision today, and we'll discuss any issues regarding the design tomorrow.

I just got an email from Jason, and essentially he can not do anything better then the price he gave me, and he needs at least a couple orders in order to do so.

Here is the break down:

1 F1Z4-33-23Z Kit, Brake Pads Front 99 - $76.68 each
4 F124-33-696 Pin, Pad Retainer 99 - $2.9 each
1 F1Z4-33-98Z Kit, Caliper Front Right Diff Bore 33.9mm/38.1mm 99 - $293.4 each
1 F1Z4-33-99Z Kit, Caliper Front Left Diff Bore 33.9mm/38.1mm 99 - $293.4 each
1 F124-43-710 Line, Brake Caliper Front Right 99 ?
1 F124-43-720 Line, Brake Caliper Front Left 99 ?
1 F138-33-261A Plate, Rotor Backing Front Right 99 - $25 each
1 F138-33-271A Plate, Rotor Backing Front Left 99 - $25 each

1 FDY1-26-43ZA Kit, Brake Pads Rear 93 - $50 each
1 F1Z4-26-98Z Kit, Caliper Rear Right 34.9mm Bore 99 - $225 each
1 F1Z4-26-99Z Kit, Caliper Rear Left 34.9mm Bore 99 - $225 each
2 F124-26-261 Plate, Rotor Backing Rear 99 ?
Jason did not elaborate why he did not have prices on afew pieces of hardware, and I'll have to follow up on that.

I'm going to contact a few vendors tomorrow and see if they can host a GB for the calipers, and run it by Jason for approval, of course, if another vendor can do so. I'll post something tomorrow.

Precision got the rotors in late, so they were only able to give it a cursory glance. Nothing out of the ordinary it appears (but we knew that), so so-far-so-good.

Corksport will have a GB price structure for the calipers by Wednesday, and Mazdaformance will let us know by Monday if they can do a GB on it.

FYI, Mazdaformance (a Mazdaspeed dealer) did look at Mazdaspeed USA stock, and show them to have only two front caliper sets and no rear caliper sets in stock at the moment. This is for those that need to plan - it looks like the rotors may be ready to ship before the calipers are. I'll find out a rough time frame on Monday. It appears that Corksport is sourcing their parts directly from Japan, so the time line, if it were to happen thru them, will likely be different.

More on Monday.

Update: Mazdaformance will not be able to do a GB on the calipers because Mazdaspeed USA has only a certain allotment of parts allowed to them by Mazda Japan. As Mazdaformance put it - Mazdaspeed USA does not tell Mazda Japan how parts they will need, but rather Mazda Japan tells Mazdaspeed how many parts they'll get.

This means that it will likely have to be sourced from a business with access to parts directly from Japan. Waiting on Corksport to provide numbers, and contacting others to see if there are more options.

It's this kind of market-oriented thinking that has made communism the world's leading economic system.

Waiting on Corksport to provide numbers...
They may take awhile for some imported things, but they have always been able to get me what I "needed" with good service. I recommend them.

Update: Corksport received a base price from their contact in Japan, but did not get a GB price structure. They say Monday for prices.

RotaryExtreme is also checking on prices as well, so hopefully we'll have some competitive prices. Jt-Imports did not return my email/inquiry, so I'll try again.

Just FYI, JT-Imports is who I had trouble getting pricing from. It took several months to get pricing for the Spirit-R rear brake components from Jason.

Corksport got back to with numbers on the calipers today. Still waiting on Rotary Extreme numbers, and we should get going then.

Precision is finalizing the design, and will be near identical to the AP brakes (basically how the hat has the 'flange') you guys did with N-tech (I gave them the pic of your front kit to base it off of).

I'm on top of it, but at the mercy of the vendors' schedule - just trying to balance my follow-up calls between polite prodding and out right harasement. We'll start with the rotors this week irregardless, and I will be working on a descriptive GB post tonight to put up here, the 'other' forum, and the Big List.

Hold tight, I'll start posting the GB details this weekend with final approval from both forums, and on the biglist.

Rotors:

Ran in a snag with Precision, and will need to reaffirm some details as well. Short version is that the guy at Precision I was working with on the GB has left, and further discussion with the GM has them refining the pricing to reflect the actual cost of manufacturing.

The good news is the rear rotors will actually start out less then what was posted earlier. The bad news is that the front rotors will be basically more, making up the difference. Pricing will now reflect options for slotting, drilling, or both. Choice color (red, blue, black) will remain a no cost option, and they have included plating of the rotors as a no cost option as well. Total price has gone up a bit (for all drilled/slotted) after they've gotten the OE spec rotors to examine, though not a whole lot.

Calipers/hardware:

No word from Rotary Extreme regarding the calipers. I am satisfied that I've examined every source now (though not as many price quotes as I would have liked), but if you guys want me to keep looking, I can.

Between the quotes on the calipers from Jason/RX7 Store, Corksport, and talking with Mazdaformance, there appears to be not much mark up in these parts, and what savings there will be is slim. Don't want to raise expectations of heavy GB cuts, but I'm satisfied that we'll get the best prices possible on the calipers/hardware irregardless.

So naive of me to think this would have been easy put together. This is the last GB I'll ever organize.

Anybody that subscribes to the Big List - I posted this past Sunday about the GB - did it show up, anybody see it? I subscribe to the 'digest version', and have not seen it yet. Are GB posts not allowed on the Big List?

I've posted to the nopistons.com forum, and will post to the RX7 Club GB section as soon as we figure out who will do the calipers. RE has replied that he will have caliper prices shortly, so waiting on that. The RX7 Club requires a fee to post GBs, so any posts will be dependent on the vendor willing to cover this. Rotor prices will be on nopistons tonight, irregardless.

The List has been quite a bit slower for the last year or so. I suspect it's largely due to the Forum becoming more popular. I used to get 3 to 5 digests per day from the List. Now it seems like one every few days.

Well, after a few more pleas from Nigerians trying to move money out of the U.S., hopefully your post will show up...

Those prices are extremely good. Are those prices from Mazda Comp? Those are actually below my cost if I bring them from Japan.

For those missing parts, the front brake lines are about $10 each and the rear plate is about $55 each according to the Japanese retail price.

I go through a Mazda dealer in Japan. Here is the price they gave me:

Compare the part number with the part list you gave me to cross reference then you will find out it's more expensive in Japan and the rear caliper actually costs more.

Thanks again Chuck, appreciate your input and help.

Ok, Jason/RX7 Store has finalized prices, and he is gracious enough to give us bit more off. Here are the caliper prices, which I am waiting on Jason to confirm in writing before posting to the GB section.

No minimum order for this GB, but also no structured pricing - meaning we don't have to worry about meeting a minimum. :

Front caliper - $280/side
Rear calipers - $219/side

After all the calling around, I am confident that it will not get any lower then this. Exact pricing for the brake line still needs to nailed down, but should be small ticket parts. Some people have expressed that they do not need the splash plates, so this will be seperate as well. Exact prices on those pieces will be worked out soon.

Hawk HPS pads will be GB priced at $39/front set and $39 rear set as part of this GB.

Interesting developement is tha Jason spoke with Mazdaspeed USA, and they indicated that there should not be a problem getting orders for calipers filled - as Mazdaformance had stated.
