Zip-tieing brake hoses...

I was told the other day (by crazy J-tuners) that using a shitton of zip ties on the brake hoses will make the stock brake lines feel stiffer...

I guess it would only cost a few minutes and a couple dollars to try.

Why not just buy SS lines from Corksport or Racing Beat?

Typically you get from 800 to a max of around 2000psi line pressure in the brake lines ranging from a normal stop to full effort "Oh S%^&" heart in throat moment.

Based on the pressures involved, no zip tie is going to *not* expand when trying to constrict a rubber brake line holding that sort of pressure. They are only thin nylon strips after all.
Might be one for the Mythbusters, but the results would have to be negligible at best. The zip ties would probably do more to protect the rubber lines from stones and debris than aid brake feel honestly. But hey, go for it and let us know

This seems interesting...

There are those 1/4" wide zip ties that are heavy duty.
Though, the stock rubber will still absorb air moisture through them.

That's why I have none. Don't want too much power. I get shitty mileage as it is.

Bryan, you know they make stainless steel heavy duty zip ties. which are probably going to throw the cost effectiveness out the window.

I thought that was the point?

Corksport products being reasonable is irrelevant since this is for an MR2 and I am in Japan, and don't want to put any more money into this car than I already have for anything that isn't broken.

Then if they ain't broke, don't fix 'em!

Replace them if they fail or leak, otherwise you really don't need to mess with them.
