XPOST: HELP! Rounded Flare Nut on Brake lines.

Hello,

I was working on swapping my brake lines to the ss braided ones.
I got to the third one, front right. I tried to open the flare nut, and it would not move. After several tries, the nut is kinda rounded.
I used flare nut wrench. I tried to use other wrench, to no avail...

This is on both nut on front right. All other sides are okay(both rear and front left).

Help!

Reza

If I understand your situation correctly you are talking about one of the flare nuts on the hard line running from the engine compartment into the wheel well.

To get it off you will need to get something that locks on to the nut. A vice grip will probably work the best. Unfortunatley to fix it correclty the entire line should be replaced. In theory you could cut the flare off the line and put on a new fitting (nut) and re-flare the line but the do it yourself flare kits are not usually as good as a factory fitting.

Or if you are really in a bind you can just use the vice grips to tighten the nut onto your braided lines. Unless you crack it with the vice grips it should hold just as well as before. But it will look like crap and will be a pain in the rear the next time you need to remove the line.

Do I need to open the fender/wheel well to replace the pipe that goes to ABS?
