Will these wheels/tires fit?

I found a nice set of wheels/tires for my 90 TII. I just want to make sure the offset will be good enough so they dont look gay. The tire diameter should be just about the same as stock.

wheels are
18x7.5 45mm offset
tires are 225/40-18's

Car is stock ride hieght.

Let me know if you think they will fit the car without any problems, and without sticking out too far. Thanks guys!!

Stock offset is +40 mm. Check here: http://fc3spro.com/TECH/MODS/RT/rims.htm

You might need a spacer to fit your wheels nicely.

could someone elaborate on this, not calling bullshit just want clarification.

Bama is spreading misinformation again. Whether you have a T2 or not doesn't decide what size tires fit your car. Wheels do. Go to the site I listed, it has alot of information you will find useful concerning tires.

A spacer? If stock is +40, and these are +45, wouldnt these stick OUT further than stock? Or am I mistaken, and the 45's will tuck in more? Thanks

The more positive offset, the more it will tuck in. You will need a spacer to clear the fronts on 225 width tires.

Tirerack.com says if i have an 18x7.5 wheel, it needs to be a +38 backspacing. These wheels are +45. So, I would need an 8mm spacer. Thats a little over a 1/4 inch thick. Are the factory front wheel studs long enough to reach through the spacers, and wheels? Thanks!!

The studs should be long enough. What kind of wheels did you get? 7.5in width on an 18 inch rim seems a little too skinny for me. I've seen people use thicker spacers to fit FD wheels to their cars.

i think the studs arent long enough for a 8-9mm spacer. it will hold (not by many threads) but i dont feel safe running a spacer that wide with the stock studs

here are the wheels. Going on a black 90 TII. Think they will look ok? They have 2 brand new tires, and 2 tires have 75% tread. Paid $400 for all of em.

not bad at all. i had to run a 1/4" spacer to fit 225's up front and there isnt much stud at all. just get some longer studs. they arent hard to change out. hit em with a hammer till the pop out of the back of the hub then hammer in new longer ones... i love the mesh but 18 is a bit too big for me. you will probably want to lower your car a bit when you get those on it. they increase the height of the car so it gets goofy looking

it looked like a 225/40-18 was only about an 1/8 of an inch taller than the stock tires(205/55-16). I compared the two at http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html - Hopefully they arent much taller than my stock tires cuz that will look goofy!

well i put them on and they dont hit the front springs. Its REAL close, but they dont hit. Probably 1/8-1/4 inch away. Think this will be ok, or should I get a thin spacer? Thanks for your help guys.

Wheel fitment on S5 t2

Just put some 18x7.5 +45mm offset wheels on my T2. The tires are 225/40's - I was told they wouldnt fit without spacers.

They seem to fit fine, and the front wheels dont touch the springs. They are really close (1/8"-1-4") but dont rub. Is this enough free room, or does the sec. gen need more space between the tire, and the suspension?

I forsee.....a deletion in your topic's future.

Sorry guy, but while it may seem 2nd gen specific, it's really wheels/suspension section.

If they aren't rubbing anything, and you're satisfied with the way it sits, that's good. But if you want your wheel to be flush with the fenders, try some spacers.

Maybe a picture of your car might help?

Careful man...you're walking a thin line posting **** like "THIS THREAD IS SECOND GEN. SPECIFIC. DO NOT MOVE IT AGAIN!"

While your question pertains to a second gen, The main topic deals with wheel fitment...which goes in the proper section i.e. the suspension/wheels/tires section.

To answer your question, I'd at least space the wheels out 5mm. With a +45 offset on a 18x7.5, I believe you'll see some rubbing on the inner fender well.

Turn the wheel all the way to one side and go over a speed bump.
I put money you're going to hear the awful groan GRRRRRrrrrrr of the tire hitting the inside.
