Will changing struts affect Camber?

Im installing lowering springs and struts, will this change the camber angle? and if it does, I actually had my car Aligned and they told me that the manufactur does not specify an adjustment for camber, so to adjust it I need an aftermaket camber kit, if camber IS off would this take care of it?

yes it will change the camber, and the toe most likely.
2nd go to a different allignment place. you need no kit. and make sure they set the camber at all 4

It's a good idea to have the alignment checked after changing suspension components.

You don't need a camber kit... I'm guessing they're talking about crash bolts. If they are, run and don't walk from that shop. The FD suspension is adjustable from the factory.

The FSM lists suspension settings, so they are full of **** on that regard too.

front camber: 0*5' plus or minus 45'
rear camber: -1*13' plus or minus 45'

really? and also I heard its harder to adjust camber when the car is lowered... the car will only be 1'' lower, nothing extreme, so will adjustment be a problem?

Any compotent shop should be able to perform an alignment perfectly fine.

I'm not familiar with the FD, but 1" lower shouldn't pull you out of spec too much to be unadjustable.

ya, thats what I thought.... I will do some research for good aligment shops that do both Camber and Toe. Sears will actually print out the alignment specs, from before and after and give you a copy, I wanna check all this first before I start tearing things apart. Last question... will installing struts change my caster?

if your RX7 is an FD the alignment shop is, at best, confused.

FCs have struts. the FD does not have struts. it has shock absorbers and springs.

the FC from the factory is non-adjustable as to camber without aftermarket camber plates. it sounds like the alignment shop is thinking you have an FC.

run.

since the FD double A arm suspension delivers negative camber gain on bump anytime the ride height is changed the camber must be reset. probably toe as well.

aligning the FD is straightforward. an easier job than many other cars so it shouldn't be significantly more expensive. for aggressive street specs see the first post in my thread nearby.

i agree w getting the before and after on paper so you know what you had and have. don't forget to set tire pressure before the alignment. 30 front, 27 rear.

good luck,

hc
