Widest FC Wheels?? (no search found)

Ok, i know this question USED to come up alot and was easily found with the search function, but now i cant seem to find it anymore!

What is the widest wheels and tires that can be run on the front, and the widest that can be run on the back of a 2nd gen turbo??

What offsets should be used for those wheels?

I have 18 x 7.5 wheels now with 215-40-ZR18's front AND back. I really like how they look on the front, but they dont fill out the rear fenders very well and it looks kinda puny. I want to fill out those rear fenders! Any suggestions anyone? Hopefully we can add this to the seach archive so people can find it!

I recently purchased a set of 17's from Rishie (ARD T2). I'm running 17x7.5 front and 17x9.5 rear. With 40 and 38mm offsets respectively. You could go to 8" up front with the correct offset.

My suggestion/fitment recipe.

if you get a 17,8 up front with a +35 offset and have a conservative drop, about an inch, you can run a 235/40/17 up front. Then in the rear up to a 9.5" wide wheel with +38 offset at most and run up to a 255/40/17. If you have a n/a i suggest 245/40.

Peace, Rishie

I have a list of wheels in this offset that will work very well for max fit on the FC.

Isnt a 9.5 in the back really wide for a 255 tire? Isnt that more of a 275 width? If you can fit a 9.5 without rubbing, why not have a 275 tire on it? Just curious...

Because the tire is increasing in diameter and width. The tire section width and width of the wheel, while related, can allow for a variety of tire widths to be used. I believe a 9.5 is great on a 255. I have 18,9.5 with 255/35/18 and they look great. It's perfect to me. Depending on function and style a 10" would be cool too.

I run 265/35/18 on my 18x10 for the bimmer even though the wheel can support a 285. The reason is because the offset of the wheel isn't positive enough for me to run that 285 section width even though the wheel fits. Thereby causing it to rub on the fender.

Hope that makes sense. And I'd run a 10" on a 275. It's just preference. I tend to work on the higher side of the spectrum.

Later, Rishie

Yes i do understand now, thank you!

255 on a 9.5 inch rim kinda has that stretched tire "euro look". I happen to like that alot. It also sounds like a 9.5 inch rim will really fill out the back of the car nicely (as compared to my 7.5's now). Thanks for your help, its greatly appreciated.
