Where do YOU buy your racing tires.
Where does everyone shop for race tires. Do you look at discount on line tire places like discount tire direct or the tire rack or are there better places to shop. If I'm going to just use these things up I would rather not pay top dollar ( like you would not want to do ) for R compound tires. I'm talking Kuhmo victorracers (like I have now ) or hoosier track or auto cross tires.
Thanks for any tips.

For Kumhos or Toyo Proxes RA-1's, call Vilven Tire in S. Illinois. They will shave them to the depth you want. (1-888-77KUMHO or 217-583-3244).
Compared to special ordering them at a tire store, mail ordering DOT competition tires from a place like Vilven or Tire Rack will save you enough money to pay to have them mounted and balanced somewhere and still come out $ ahead.
Manny can tell you where to get Hoosiers.

Appalachian Race Tire sells used Motorola Cup compound Hoosier Road Race tires for $50 each. They're good for a couple of lapping sessions, maybe three...The downside is mounting and balancing gets expensive and you're harder on your wheels that way, if you're swapping tire once every three weeks! Check out www.racetire.com
(I have a special deal on NEW Hoosier R3S03s for my Motorsports Driving Club members, who have been active MDC participants this year)

For Hoosiers, call Mid Atlantic Motorsports and speak to "Hoosier Tom". He supplies tires for most of the SCCA solo crowd and supports the program by going to several national events including the National Championships at Topeka, KS. He is very knowledgable.
Tell him Marc Segal referred you...... thanks!
