Wheels for 1994 RX-7

OK I have a 1994 RX-7, Adjustable struts rolled fenders. Having trouble making a selection for wheels, mainly what will work with my setup. The goal is to achieve the wheels to edge look. I’m not looking for any overhanging tires. I would like something similar to the BBS rims used on the 99’ spec in 18” wheels albeit with a more reasonable price.

I found what I think was a sticky about wheels for the 3rd gen that provided lot of good info. I would like to get as much as I can under the rear and still fit inside the rear. So with the offset of 38mm what will tuck? Below it what I got from the sticky, not my favorite design but if it will work the price is right.

Enkei RPF1's in black, with the following size 18"/9.5/45 and 18"/10/38. Tire size would be 255/35/18 and 295/30/18 with Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08 tires.

You should speak with Rishie at AutoRND. He is the wheel fitment guru and won't steer your wrong. Will also give you great pricing and service on a nice set of wheels.

This is him:

Great choice on sizing, I run the exact size RPF1 in silver on the track..... to be for sale soon if anyone is interested . I run 255/35 F and 265/35 R AD08s and they've been phenomenal.

I'd recommend going with 285/30 in the rear, no need for a 295 unless youre making 600 rwhp, and on a ten inch rim 295 is not ideal. The 265 rears hold up VERY well, even at 500+ rwhp.

Oh, and gracer is spot on with Rishie, you can't go wrong with his advice

Thanks guys,

Godfella can you link some pics.

I'm having massive traction problems if the temp is below 70 with the stockers and Goodyear F1's. I mean 1st and 2nd can break loose without warning on good pavement at WOT on demand with a stab of the gas. The car make around ~330-350 whp, never been on a dyno. I plan on 450 by summer with a single in street trim.

First I have to resolve the current traction problems though. Mounts, bushing, and rear-end are all being checked out. Personal I think the diff is suspect as it always starts with RR breaking traction first. Wheels and tires are only one part of this puzzle.

How old are the goodyears? theyre old technology at this point..... lose them and pick up some Advan AD08s, or Dunlop Z1 Star Spec. I'd be willing to bet that'll fix your traction problems

They're less than a year old, they're quite sticky tires in a straight line, turn in has a half second delay though... It could be a bad set but the last set was amazing, I could drive normal in Florida rain for the first time.

With a passenger I will loose traction at 55k in first. It always seems to be the right rear first even on right hand turns. Moderate boost lane changes can be down right spooky even if I don't loose traction. PPF is brand new and strengthened that has helped. Running out of stuff to replace back there.

I have a feeling it's the diff 130k miles and abused daily from birth. Don't even know what the symptoms off a worn out torsen would be. But my butt accelerometer believes that's what it might feel like. A Kaaz is in my budget but only if I know it will resolve the issue.

Regardless aiming for 450 hp so tires need upgrading regardless and this will rule the tires out, going with Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08s the reviews suited my goals. They also come in the right size too. No sexy single turbo until this get worked out.

While I do have traction issues in first and second, both of my wheels break loose at the same time in a very predictable fashion. Even in a turn the diff performs as expected so I'd imagine your diff is at fault.

Please keep in mind this diff is used with a 430whp/385wtq v8. I am also running a 285/30-18 on a 18x10 tire. CRAPPY 300 treadwear sumitomos :-)
