Wheel size

I have a '91 coupe that I am looking to time trial, and I have been considering wheel and tire upgrade options. I am pretty much settled on 15"x7" SSR Competitions with 225/45-15 Kumho Ecsta V700s. I have yet to see anyone with this wheel/tire combination. It seems like a good idea to me, because it lowers my gearing similar to swapping in a 4.3:1 rear end, it lowers the car an inch, and reduces my unsprung weight. Am I missing some major disadvantage? Why does everyone plus size? I have discovered that finding SSR Competitions in that size with the right offset and bolt pattern is very difficult, but that aside, what's wrong with this idea? I also have Ground Control coilovers on, so I can lower the car so that it doesn't look lifted with the smaller wheel/tire size. Thanks for any opinions.

There's nothing wrong with your idea, but you might run out of rpms, thus forcing to short-shift often at some tracks. As they say in racing..."nothin's free, dude". You always give up something to get something.
