Wheel adapters

My brother is a Machinist by trade, and if I should say so... he is GREAT... you should see some of the things he has made. Well, he and I were talking about wheel adapters for my rx. He thinks he might be able to make a hardened steel lug adapter kit for mine. This way, I will be able to put ANY type of lug pattern on my car, without going thru the mess of changing over to a SE hub. (which includes swapping the whole rear end which is not exactly a happy task)

So, will this work? I know that it will push the wheels out further from the car, so I am going to get a wide body kit

Is this a dangerous idea? Will it be likely to spontaneously break due to the increased leverage? Anything would be helpful before I get into this project!

H&R springs makes wheel adaptors to put Porsche wheels on a bunch of other cars. They make wheel spacers too. So as long as the right materials are used, I don't see any problem. But just be careful.
