whats a good hooking tire for stock fd rims

Anybody know of a good hooking tire for the stock fd rims??? I thought about drag radials but how long does radials last??? I really think the factory tire size is ugly as hell, I want a smaller tire(not to small tho).. anybody have a suggestion???

what are you after traction? If so, go for the Nitto555r's for drag race. For auto-x or road race use S03's or AVS sports. As with all high performance tires a lot of factors can contribute to the longetivity of the tires. The type of driving involved, the way you drive, and also the type of driving conditions.

I have Nitto 555R 245/50/16's for the drags and have cut a best of a 1.71 60ft with them after about 3K miles of hard driving on them. When they were brand new the best I could achieve was a 1.78 60ft! They should last about 8-10K miles if you don't do major burnouts/donuts when not at the track. They are ok in the rain also and handle good for a drag radial. Any other form of drag radial (BFG DR's, ET Streets) handles poorly, is scary in a high speed turn, and in the rain is downright dangerous. Get the Nitto DR's if you do a lot of straightline racing.

I have S-03's for the street and they handle killer.... but I can't get better than a 2.1 60ft with them and they ice skate thru 3rd gear as they just aren't a sticky drag tire.

Maybe just get 2 extra 3rd gen rims and have Drag Radials mounted on them for when you want to go out and rail.

What et's/mph are you achieving now? If you are fairly stock you probably don't need them. I've seen a 3rd gen on street tires run 12.2's@119mph which is good. On a drag radial this could've been mid 11's easily.

for an fd 245/45-16 is slightly shorter than stock (225/50-16) and will fit on the stock rim.

I just got some Pirelli P-7000s I am real happy with.
