Whats the best "how to" write up on suspension and brakes?

Hey guys, I'm fixing to install new rotors, pads, and shocks. I've never dont any of this before, I'm kinda wierd like that, I've done everything else on my car myself but for some reason never did the brake/suspension stuff myself.

Anyway, I was wondering whats the best how to write up for changing the rotors and pads and replacing the stock shocks with Koni yellows.

Also - I read about a special tool that makes the back brakes much easier. Seems like I read I can find it at Auto Zone or Advanced Auto....can somone tell me exactly what to ask for so I get the right tool

Any help is appreciated,
STEPHEN

Stephen,

Yeah, the FD Rx7 rear caliper tool is a must. You can get something similar at an auto parts store. Not sure what it's called, sorry.

Just ask them for a brake piston "cube" thing. They will figure out what you are talking about. Here is one from Advance:

Thanks for the info guys. I knew about Max Coopers write up on suspension but he didnt have anything on brakes. I was kinda hoping there was a better straight forward step by step somewhere about the brakes. The Lightening site is just a bunch of people talking about it so you get most of the info in bits. I'll make do though, I'm sure i have enough info to get me by

Thanks,
STEPHEN

Here's a good site for stock brake pad replacement:

Shocks and springs:

This isn't what was asked for, but it's a good read on brakes all the same. Here is a page that was originally published in GrassRoots Motorsports - Pulp Friction article

It's a bit hard to read in a few spots, but the rest is good to go.
