What would you go with?

I have a 93 rx7 with 17 X 9 Momo rims. That's pretty wide for seventeen inch rims. On the front I have 225 40r17's. Now what should I go with on the rear? I'd like to go wide as I can, and I'm pretty sure I'm sticking with 40 series. I was thinking 265's or 275's. What is a good staggered amount for performance?

Thanks!

Ryan

What are the offsets of those wheels? You'd need at least a +45 up front to get them to work w/o rubbing. And 225/40-17 is too narrow for a 9" wide wheel. Assuming the offsets are correct, you can run 255/40-17 (all around).

Hey guys, I messed up!!!!!!! I have 245's on the front, not 225's. (and even those seem narrow on a 9 inch rim) I'm sorry. Now can you suggest some rear tires? I had 40 series 255's on the back but now I want to go wider.

Also, why is momo bad? I think they are great. Very strong and lightweight, but to each his own.

You think a cast wheel weighing almost 30 lbs is strong and lightweight?

In any case, if the offset is +40 or higher, you can run a 265/40 at the rear. But then you can't rotate tires. If the offsets are in the +45 to +50 range, I would strongly recommend running 255/40 at all four.

30 lb's?? are you crazy? they weigh 14 pounds each!

Thanks for the tips though. I will probably go with the 165's. Unless anyone has a better suggestion?

Thanks

Wolf

my opinion is go same size all the way around so you can rotate them and the car feels well balanced like that, you really only need bigger rears if you are running monster power and have traction issues :-)

I'm pretty sure the only 14 lb. wheel MOMO makes is a steering wheel. In any case, they I don't think they sell forged wheels, so if they're really 14 lbs, I wouldn't go over any bumps.

go w/ the 255/40's all around.

To be more specific I ordain you to buy these wheels 1200 FOR THE SET. And they won't be some honcrapper knock offs....

And don't go buy some Kumho 712's w/ these get some decent tires...

May god save your soul,

Alex
