what width of rims should i get?

Hey you rx7 fans!! well im in a bit of a dilemma, i have some 17" rims that are 195width, and i really like to know if these will do for the rx7 knowing that stock ones are 225mm in width. and its just going to be a show/daily driver car so im not really going to be racing it much unless i encounter a mustang, civic, and or whatever else at a stoplight. so what do you guys think? will 195mm do? and also what tires should i get (no budget)

Sounds like you are confusing tire width with rim width. The stock rims are 16x8", which uses a 225/50/16 tire. You can fit a 245/45/16 tire on the stock rims. Don't run anything less than a 225 tire on the car (unless it's a dedicated drag racing car and you are putting a skinny up front).

I guess you're in texas. Honestly, how many inches wide are your wheels? What do you intend to do with this car. There are lots of tire choices good and not so much. If you like to drive around twisty back roads there are a few suggestions I could make, expensive and not. If you are just wanting a mean street machine, there are other choices. If your wheels are really 195 at the bead then the largest you will be able to put on without looking silly is 225 maybe 235
195=~7.5" (its a little larger than that though)
245's fit well on an 8" wide tire. Most tires meant for autox or track use will have the bead situated to allow for a wider tire on a wheel than would normally fit. eg. my hankook ventus rs-2's fit beautifully on my FD wheels with 245/45zr16 and its square, no bulgyness at all.
Those aren't the best tire by any means but they are aimed at good turn in response and grip without getting extremely pricey.
