What size slicks fit FB?

Ok so I'm getting some mixed info on what size slicks fit on FB's

some say 26x8 is the biggest
most say 28x9
one said 28x10.5

I have a stock GSL-SE diff with the 4x114.3 (close to 4.5") bolt pattern, according to grannysspeedshop.com 15x8 with 5.5" backspace will fit a 28x9" slick, can anyone confirm or deny this "fact"?

Other then Weld Racing, i'm having a hard time finding a 15x8 with 5.5" bs

on another note; according to the weld website, 5.5 bs on an 8" wheel yields a 25mm offset

I understand offset to be the measurement from the center of the wheel to the back of the mounting flange

I understand backspacing to be the measurement from the ouside edge of the wheel lip to the back of the mounting flange

with an 8" wheel the center of the wheel is at 4" plus 25mm offset (1") that totals 5", so where does the extra half inch of backspace come from?
