For a stock rim, 245/45 what rubber would you recomend that's in the $110 ish price range? I was close to getting the yoko EVS100's but read some bad write ups on tirerack as well as here through a search on the forum. Other than Dunlop SP 8000's, what is another good tire ? I can read the feedback all day long on tirerack, but I'd rather get some Forum members impressions. TIA.
I have a set of 245/45/16 Dunlop SP 8000s on my car right now. I bought them almost 4 years ago, and they are holding up very well after 15k miles. They have been great on dry surfaces, but I can't vouch for rain or snow since my FD sees neither. I have done my fair share of hard driving and burn outs and still have alot of tread left. Overall I would buy them again.
bridgestone RE750s. Great tire. Another forum member switched from the EVS 100s to that and was very happy with the difference. The Yokos apparently have a very short tread life. Therefore in the long run it may not be such a great value.
I'd go down to 225/50 and look at the SZ50. The improvement in tire would make up for the smaller contact patch. I have the ES100s in 255 and the SZ50 in 225 and the traction difference is insane.
