V710 Durability Question

I am was looking into AutoX school days, and when I asked about bringing my v710s, the organizer said "sure, if you think they'll make it".

This person is quite an experienced driver/instructor, so I was surprised that he felt my tires might not last the weekend. I thought with the road race pedigree of the v710 that lasting thru a hard auto'ing day should be no problem. Mine have around 80-90% rubber now. Is there something I should be aware of here?

That's a "it depends" kind of question and the instructor is giving some conservative (and maybe wise) advice. If the surface is very abrasive, and you do alot of runs, and your car is harsh on tires you might blow away your set at the school.

That said, I'd think an FD with a decent alignment wouldn't abuse some 710's too bad during the school. In any case, if the school is focused on driving techniques and mental approaches, what tire you are on is less important and you might as well save them.

Thanks Andy.

Fortunately I bought these tires lightly used for $290/set and I could get another set or two if I burn them up.

I'll chance it, and if they get really torn up after day 1 (of 2) I might switch to the streets.

i use the 710's on my fb and generally get three to four weekends on them, and still arent corded yet at that point. they just are the fastest for the first weekend. but it is an "it depends" situation like previously mentioned. depends on the track surface, handling of the car, and track temps.
