Tyres + Alloys - What to get!
I somehow managed to spin one of my cars a few months back. I refuse to believe it was a fault of mine but the turbo spiking (it is a bit broken). Any way, this was a nice car and had some nice alloys on it but I completely wrote off the wheels (the car is fine), so i'm on my second RX which I didn't really drive until now.
It has a set of terrible alloys, and cheap shitty tyres. As you can imagine, these don't grip for **** and look awful too.
Any one recommend a really good set of alloys and what tyres. I have been looking at bridgestone potenza's for the tyre, but no idea what to go for on the alloy side of things.
Is a really light alloy a good idea for this car? Or is a heavier alloy better.
This car has 300bhp at the wheels, and am looking to get another 50-60 in the next few months.
Also am uk based, so would be helpful if the alloy is available over here!
Thanks guys.

Are you looking to purchase wheels locally or is mail order an option? I would look for something around a 17x8.5, 17x9 or 17x9.5 for a wheel size. Offset will be dependent on your suspension setup and use of the car. However, I would shoot for +38 to +45 in those sizes above.
As far as tires, I would look at the new Kumho XS. They have good tire sizes for 17" wheels.

The weight of the wheel is always a tradeoff between strength and performance. It makes no sense to spend a couple grand for a 17# track wheel if you'll only drive it on city streets and crush it on a pothole.
As for tires have a closer look at the tire model. "Potenza" is a line of tires from Bridgestone that range from crappy to outstanding. It really matters which model you're after. (That said, I can recommend Bridgestone RE-01R's for example)
