So after 3 weeks of working just on the brakes (weekends of course) I have tried pretty much everything.

Got my 93 FD about a month ago or so and it came with braking issues. Need to press the brakes about 5 times to get the car to full stop in the middle of the road. Previous owner said that all I needed to do was replace the ABS unit and it would be fixed. Well I did, twice, and still no luck, so the problem is not there.

Bought new ABS control unit, replaced it, this time made the brakes work better but not perfect, now being able to brake from two pushes to the brake pedal. After taking the car for a ride as soon as I got off I was wondering if it was the end part to the wheels, I bend over and actually start to smell something different coming from the 2 back wheels. So the next day I removed the tires, tested to see if there were any leaks and there were none.

So the last piece that I decided to test was the brake Booster, I replaced it with the Roller 7 I have for parts, and it got worse, in fact, now it doesn't even brake at all. So now I am looking for a considerable new brake booster for sale, if anyone knows were I can get this piece I would be grateful for any tips. As I think this is the last piece of why my brakes are not working.

BTW I did tons of flushing, bleed the ****** like 6 times, it did get better after I replaced the ABS unit but once I replaced the Brake Booster, braking died for good.

 

also, I had 2 friends call it brake pump and the other brake booster, not sure if there is a difference or if it is the same part, just wanted to clarify it.

 

If you are sure that you bled all the air out of the system and there are no external leaks (I would make sure of that one) the next thing I would suspect is the Master Cylinder. Have you bench bled the master? Sometimes you can get air trapped inside, or maybe it's just leaking internally. The brake booster at the most will cause a hard pedal (and possibly a large vacuum leak), even with bad booster you should be able to stop the car, it will just take a lot more force from your foot.

 

I wouldn't be surprise if the prior owner contaminated the braking system. If so, you'll need to replace everything.

Haven't fixed it yet but yea my mechanic told me its the Master Cylinder. So now I am looking for one, any recommendations were I can get a good one, new if possible if they still make it? or the best after market one?
